Devices, systems, and methods for managing a storage device configured to store a plurality of codewords, including: obtaining a two-dimensional (2D) generalized concatenated code (GCC) codeword from the storage device; providing the codeword to a sequential decoder; based on detecting a first failure by the sequential decoder, updating the codeword and transposing the updated codeword to obtain a transposed codeword; providing the transposed codeword to the sequential decoder; and obtaining information bits corresponding to the codeword based on a result obtained by the sequential decoder.

Two-dimensional generalized concatenated codes with sub-fields

Provided are a memory system, a method of reading data and a method of finding read thresholds. The method of finding read thresholds includes: selecting a channel distribution among a plurality of channel distributions that corresponds to a read page of the memory device to be read in response to a read command; generating a Trellis diagram based on a decoding scheme and a type of the read page; determining an optimal path through the Trellis diagram using the selected channel distribution according to a dynamic programming algorithm; and finding the read thresholds from the optimal path.

A method of correcting data stored in a memory device includes: applying an iterative decoder to the data; determining a total number of rows in first data the decoder attempted to correct; estimating first visible error rows among the total number that continue to have an error after the attempt; estimating residual error rows among the total number that no longer have an error after the attempt; determining second visible error rows in second data of the decoder that continue to have an error by permuting indices of the residual error rows according to a permutation; and correcting the first data using the first visible error rows.

The method includes partitioning a vehicle travel pathway into a plurality of geographical bins, grouping the bins into one or more regions, mapping each bin in a region to a different transmission resource, preparing a data record containing the mapping of geographical bins to transmission resources, and providing the data record to one or more vehicles that travel down the travel pathway for identifying to the one or more vehicles the transmission resource on which to transmit data.

Resource allocation for channel access in V2X communication systems

A system and method that enables large content data transfers to mobile platforms is provided. The mobile platform cache system and method provided build a cache suitable for large content data transfers using the available storage capacity of one or more frequently used, existing mobile devices. The provided mobile cache system and method prioritize available free or low cost communication protocols for data transfer to one or more mobile devices, enabling the use of free Wi-Fi communications or low cost communications, and minimizing the use of cellular data transmissions for large content data transfers.

A controller obtains the data from the one or more in-vehicle devices. A system for communication over automotive power lines is described. The system includes a plurality of vehicle modules. Each of the vehicle modules includes a power line communication (PLC) module. A PLC network connects the power lines configured to carry electric power to the vehicle modules. The PLC processors enable the power lines to transmit data between the plurality of vehicle modules. The system also includes a master PLC processor configured to transmit data to one or more of the plurality of vehicle modules via one of two selectable protocols that include a multiple frequency channel communication protocol and a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communication protocol.

A method of a vehicle obtaining sensor data originating at one or more of other vehicles includes receiving input from an operator or system within the vehicle, and generating a request for the sensor data based on the input. The method also includes sending the request for the sensor data, receiving the sensor data, and processing the sensor data. The processing includes providing the sensor data to the operator or the system within the vehicle based on the input. A central server includes an interface to receive sensor data and parameters from one or more vehicles according to vehicle-to-network (V2N) communication. A processor generates a digital map from the sensor data. The digital map includes a layer for each type of the sensor data.

Multi-vehicle sensor sharing

An autonomous-driving vehicle system, for implementation at an autonomous-driving vehicle. The autonomous-driving vehicle system includes a hardware-based processing unit and a non-transitory computer-readable storage device comprising and input module and an activity module. The input module, when executed by the hardware-based processing unit, obtains input data indicating presence of a pedestrian communication device near the autonomous-driving vehicle. The activity module, when executed by the hardware-based processing unit: (i) determines, based on the input data, in a pedestrian-presence determination, that the pedestrian communication device is or will soon be near the autonomous-driving vehicle, and (ii) determines, based on the pedestrian-presence determination, an autonomous-driving action to be implemented by the autonomous-driving vehicle. In other aspects, the present technology relates to a method or a non-transitory computer readable storage device, for performing any of the operations described.

Vehicle-to-pedestrian-communication systems and methods for using the same

A method for communicating using a hybrid vehicle communications network including a combination of wired and wireless electronic control units (ECUs) and wired and wireless peripherals. The network includes a plurality of ECUs that include a plurality of wireless ECUs. The network also includes a plurality of peripheral devices, where one or more of the peripheral devices receive commands from one or more of the ECUs and one or more of the peripheral devices provide signals to the ECUs, and where the plurality of peripherals include at least one wireless peripheral. Wireless transmission signals transmitted from one of the wireless peripherals is received by all of the wireless ECUs. The method performs an arbitration process where a message provided from one of the wireless ECUs is placed on a communications backbone based on a quality of the transmission signal from the wireless peripheral.
