Beamforming is used in wireless link communication to improve a wireless link through increased channel capacity and diversity by focusing a beam, such as from multiple antennas, in the direction of the receiver. Where the receiver may be capable of measurements relevant to beamforming, more particularly measurements that vary or are otherwise dependent upon changes in beamforming settings, reference to such measurements and corresponding beamforming settings may improve performance. In this Disclosure, a sink device transmits a data stream to a source device, wherein said data stream comprises the position of the sink device. The data stream may further comprise data such as link quality, heading information, or discretized location. The source device stores this data in a memory. When the wireless link deteriorates, the source device assesses its memory to select a candidate beamforming setting with some indicia of success, such as those that correspond closely to the sink device's position, the most recently used beamforming settings, or beamforming settings that previously resulted in a satisfactory wireless link quality.

Wireless link control and recovery using positional data

Provided are a method and apparatus for an error tolerance aware data retention scheme in a storage device for multi-scale error tolerant data. A mapping of retention priorities to sectors of the storage units maps higher retention priorities to sectors having a higher retention capability. A data stream and retention metadata for the data stream indicate retention priorities for segments of the data stream. Segments of the data stream having less error tolerance are mapped to higher retention priorities than segments of the data stream having greater error tolerance. The mapping of retention priorities is used to determine a sector having a retention priority matching a retention priority of a segment of the data stream indicated in the retention metadata. The segment of the data stream is stored in the determined sector.

Method and apparatus for an error tolerance aware data retention scheme in a storage device for multi-scale error tolerant data

Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems and methods of quality of experience indication. For example, an apparatus may include a radio configured to communicate encoded multimedia data during a session over a wireless communication channel; and a Quality of Experience (QoE) estimator configured to determine at least one QoE indicator corresponding to the session, and to provide the QoE indicator to a session manager of the session, the QoE estimator configured to determine the QoE indicator based at least on a mean opinion score (MOS) corresponding to the encoded multimedia data, and a channel quality parameter corresponding to the wireless communication channel.

Apparatus, method and system of quality of experience indication

Multi-layered video structures are scaled over a range of perceived quality levels. An estimated Mean Opinion Score (eMOS)-based encoder control loop is utilized to determine one or more encoder key performance index (KPI) associated with a particular perceived quality level. A KPI-based encoder control loop is then utilized to guide generation of a hierarchical structure having quality and/or temporal and/or spatial enhancement layers, without recalculating eMOS for the scalable structure. In addition, eMOS is used to guide the generation of a hierarchical structure at best-perceived quality levels for a given bitrate budget. Rate adaptation may occur by dropping segments, changing hierarchical structure, or changing the KPI target values. With the structure scaled as a function of perceived quality, perceived quality is impacted predictably as the encoding rate is adapted.

Scalable video encoding rate adaptation based on perceived quality

Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems and methods of to rate adaptation based on goodput. For example, an apparatus may include a packet selector to select at a first device a plurality of goodput packets from a plurality of received packets from a second device, the packet selector to select the plurality of goodput packets based on at least one selection parameter corresponding to the plurality of received packets; a band calculator to calculate a bit-rate band based on a dispersion of a goodput parameter corresponding to the plurality of goodput packets; and a feedback module to provide a bit-rate adaptation feedback to the second device based on the bit-rate band.
