An electric rotating machine includes a multi-phase armature coil that is wound around a cylindrical armature core in a distributed winding manner. Each of phase windings of the armature coil is formed of an electric wire bundle which includes a plurality of insulation-coated electric wires that are electrically connected to one another. Each of the electric wire bundles forming the phase windings has a plurality of in-slot portions and a plurality of turn portions. Each of the in-slot portions is received in a corresponding slot of the armature core. Each of the turn portions protrudes from a corresponding axial end face of the armature core and extends to connect a corresponding adjacent pair of the in-slot portions of the electric wire bundle. For each of the electric wire bundles, the electric wires of the electric wire bundle are stranded at least at the turn portions of the electric wire bundle.

Electric rotating machine

An electric rotating machine includes a multi-phase stator coil that is wound on a stator core in a distributed winding manner. Each of phase windings of the stator coil is formed of an electric wire bundle which includes a plurality of insulation-coated electric wires that are electrically connected to one another. Each of the electric wire bundles forming the phase windings has in-slot portions, which are respectively received in corresponding slots of the stator core, and turn portions that are located outside the slots of the stator core to connect adjacent pairs of the in-slot portions. Each of the electric wire bundles further includes a plurality of insulating layers that are respectively formed at predetermined positions, at which the turn portions of the electric wire bundle overlap those of the other electric wire bundles, so as to surround the electric wires of the electric wire bundle.

A brush holder in a tandem vehicle alternator for a vehicle is composed mainly of a primary brush holder and a secondary brush holder accommodating plural brushes, respectively. The primary and secondary brush holders are independently formed. During a step of producing a brush assembly and of mounting the brush assembly on the tandem vehicle alternator, both of the primary and secondary brush holders are integrated into a single brush holder and tightly fastened by welding using a connection metal member.

The rotor of the outer-rotor type wheel-in motor of the electric wheel includes a field generator facing the outer surface of the stator across from an electrical gap. The field generator includes pole magnets magnetized in the radial direction with respect to the rotation axis of the wheel-in motor, adjacent two of the pole magnets having opposite directions of magnetization so that magnet polarity of the field generator alternates at a predetermined pole pitch along the circumferential direction, yoke magnets magnetized in the circumferential direction each of which is put between corresponding adjacent two of the pole magnets to strengthen magnetic field formed by the pole magnets, and a field generator support member to which the field generator is fixed, the field generator support member being fixed to the rotary shaft which is rotatably supported by a wheel suspension system of a vehicle.

The vehicle-use generator includes a first rotor core having a first field coil wound therearound, a second rotor core having a second field coil wound therearound, a rotating shaft belt-driven by a vehicle engine, the first and second rotor cores being mounted in tandem on the rotating shaft, a stator core having a stator coil wound therearound, and disposed radially outwardly of the first and second rotor cores so as to form a circumferential gap with the first and second rotor cores. The first and second field coils are connected substantially in parallel to each other when viewed from an external field current supply source supplying field currents to the first and second field coils.

A tandem rotary electric machine for vehicles is equipped with a primary rotary electric machine and a secondary rotary electric machine arranged in tandem mechanism, namely, of a dual stator-rotor pair mechanism. In the tandem rotary electric machine, a connection lead wire connects a stator coil wound on a stator core of the primary stator-rotor pair to a rectifier device through one of accommodation parts formed in slots of the stator core of the secondary stator-rotor pair. This structure reduces the entire size or volume of the tandem rotary electric machine and increases the mechanical safety against the impact or force from outside.

An electrically motorized wheel assembly is provided which may be used in automotive vehicles. The wheel assembly is equipped with at least one electric motor having an output shaft located eccentrically from an axle of a wheel. A rotary electric apparatus, such as on-vehicle three-phase AC generator (i.e., alternator) comprises a main rotary unit, a semiconductor power converter, and an air cooling mechanism. The main rotary unit is provided with a rotor and an armature disposed as a stator around the armature. The armature has armature windings wound therearound. The semiconductor power converter is disposed together with the main rotary unit. The air cooling mechanism cools down the semiconductor power converter. This mechanism comprises a fan motor driven in response to an AC (alternating current) excitation by current coming from the armature windings.

A brushless rotary electric machine includes a stator having an annular armature core with first radial teeth at the outer periphery thereof and second radial teeth at the inner periphery thereof and an armature winding wound between the teeth, a rotor having a pair of first and second rotary cores disposed tandem in the axial direction thereof, and a field coil. Each of the first and second rotary cores has a pair of coaxial outer and inner cylindrical pole members respectively facing the first and second radial teeth, a center core and disk member magnetically connecting the pair of coaxial cylindrical pole members and the center core. The stator is accommodated by a first space defined by the outer and inner cylindrical members of the pair of first and second rotary cores. The field coil is accommodated by a second space defined by the inner cylindrical pole member and the center core of the first and second rotary cores.

A rotary electric machine is composed of an armature core, an armature winding, a rotor core disposed opposite said armature core, a rotary magnetic-flux source for supplying first magnetic flux to the rotor core, a frame for supporting the armature core and the rotor core and a stationary magnetic flux source, fixed to the frame, for supplying second magnetic flux to the rotor core in a direction to supplement the first magnetic flux.

Rotary electric machine

A rotating electric machine for a vehicle includes magnet holders for holding permanent magnets. The magnet holder is fitted between adjacent two claw-like magnetic poles of pole cores, and plural permanent magnets are provided to be magnetized for reducing magnetic-flux leakage between the magnetic poles. The magnet holder includes a radial outer surface, and a protrusion that protrudes from the radial outer surface to a radial outside around a center in a circumferential direction. Therefore, a thickness of the radial outside surface of the magnet holder increases, and its rigidity can be increased. Accordingly, it can prevent the radial outside surface of the magnet holder from being deformed due to centrifugal force, and it can prevent the magnet holder from being damaged.

Rotating electric machine

To effectively cool down a stator coil generating a large amount of heat therein, a heat conductive member is disposed between a coil end and a metal frame in contact therewith. Heat generated in the stator coil is conducted to the heat conductive member and the heat conductive member is cooled down by cooling air from a cooling fan. Heat form the conductive member is also transferred to the metal frame, thereby the stator coil is further cooled. Even when the coil end cannot be cooled directly by the cooling air because the coil end is short, the coil end is effectively cooled by means of the conductive member. A corrugated fin made of a heat conductive metal plate such as an aluminum plate is preferably used as the heat conductive member. Fins formed on the metal frame may be also used as the heat conductive member. The heat conductive member may be disposed at both ends of the stator coil to enhance cooling effect.

A rotor of an alternator which is composed of a Lundell type core has a wire wound spirally around the rotor. The wire binds the claw poles at equal intervals from the tip to the base of each claw pole, thereby restricting the radial expansion of the claw poles due to centrifugal forces. The wire is made of a non-magnetic material, and is received in grooves formed on the outer circumferential surface collectively formed by the claw poles.
