A reading apparatus includes a conveyance roller configured to convey a medium, a reading unit configured to read an image of the medium conveyed by the conveyance roller, a detection unit configured to detect a rotation phase of the conveyance roller, a storage unit configured to store index values, each index value being associated with the rotation phase of the conveyance roller and corresponding to a conveyance amount of the conveyance roller per unit rotation angle, and a timing control circuit configured to select the index value based on a detection result of the detection unit and to control a reading timing of the reading unit based on a result of comparing a cumulative value of selected index values with a threshold corresponding to a reading resolution.

Reading apparatus and control method

A printing apparatus includes a printing unit that prints an image based on image data, and an inspection pattern including a first patch, and a second patch different in color or having the same color and different in density than the first patch, each of the first and second patches being printed so as to extend in the first direction on the printing medium, and the first patch and the second patch being arranged in the second direction. A scanning unit includes a plurality of detection elements arranged in the second direction, and scans the inspection pattern, and a correcting unit corrects the image data based on a scanning result. The scanning unit scans the first patch using a first detection element and scans the second patch by using a second detection element which is farther away from a lens than the first detection element.

An image forming apparatus comprises a detection unit that detects that a recording material is conveyed to a predetermined position on a conveyance path; a forming unit that forms an examination pattern at a defined position of the recording material; a reading unit that reads an image on the conveyance path when the recording material is being conveyed; a memory that saves read image data during a predetermined period defined based on a detection timing of the detection unit; a specifying unit that specifies an edge of the recording material by detecting an area corresponding to the conveyance path in the image data saved in the memory, and specifies an examination pattern area corresponding to the examination pattern based on the specified edge and the defined position; and an examining unit that examines the examination pattern area.

An apparatus comprising a first transfer unit configured to DMA-transfer input data to a holding unit, a second transfer unit configured to DMA-transfer the input data held by the holding unit to at least one unit, a notification unit configured to notify, in accordance with the DMA transferring of the first transfer unit, that the input data held by the holding unit is updated, and a transfer control unit configured to control so as to operate the second transfer unit in one of a first mode for transferring the input data from the holding unit to the at least one unit in response to the notification and a second mode for transferring the input data independently of the notification, wherein the transfer unit performs the switching to the second mode after the operation in the first mode.
