Provided is a battery unit capable of reducing the size of vehicle installation space by being more compact. A battery unit equipped with: a plurality of battery modules each containing a plurality of battery cells which are connected in parallel with one another, and each having a duct chamber for discharging gas emitted by the battery cells; and a fixing member for fixing the plurality of battery modules to the wall of a storage case in a manner such that the modules are integrally assembled with one another. The fixing member has an attachment part which attaches to a module case, and the attachment part includes an exhaust duct part for collecting and discharging the gas emitted into the duct chamber of each battery module.

Battery unit

A battery module in which the temperature of a cell with an increased high temperature due to an abnormal state can be quickly reduced so that the high temperature does not affect adjacent cells is provided. A battery modulehas a configuration in which a plurality of cellsas secondary batteries are housed in a casehaving a plurality of housing parts housing, but not in contact with, the cells, and when a gas is generated in one of the cellsto cause the cellto expand, this cellcomes into contact with the associated one of the housing parts.

Battery module

The battery module includes: a plurality of batteries; a housingin which the plurality of batteries are aligned and stored; and a cooling pipeprovided along the plurality of batteries in the housing, the cooling pipebeing filled with a cooling medium, wherein the cooling pipeis made of a material which melts when the temperature of the battery reaches or exceeds a predetermined temperature.

Battery module and battery pack using the same

A battery module includes a first unit cell, a second unit cell, a first exhaust chamber, and a second exhaust chamber. The first unit cell is disposed so that a positive electrode terminal faces the first direction. The second unit cell is connected in series to the first unit cell, the negative electrode terminal is disposed so as to face the first direction, and the second unit is disposed so as to be adjacent to the first unit cell. The first exhaust chamber is disposed so as to face the positive electrode terminal of the first unit cell, and discharges a gas which is emitted from the positive electrode terminal of the first unit cell. The second exhaust chamber is disposed so as to face the positive electrode terminal of the second unit cell, and discharges a gas generated from the positive electrode terminal of the second unit cell. The end surface of the second unit cell in the first direction and the outer surface of the first exhaust chamber in the first direction are flush with each other. The end surface of the first unit cell in a second direction opposite to the first direction and the outer surface of the second exhaust chamber in the second direction are flush with each other.

A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery has a positive electrode including an active material of complex oxides capable of storing and emitting lithium ions, a negative electrode, a separator, and an electrolytic solution made of a nonaqueous solvent. A discharge curve of this battery when being discharged with a constant power has two or more points of step-like flections near the end of electrical discharge in a range of 5% to 20% of a discharge capacity thereof as determined from an initial discharge voltage in a state of full charge to a discharge-end voltage.

Nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery

A battery internal short-circuit detection apparatus includes: a voltage detection unit for detecting a terminal voltage of the battery; a current detection unit for detecting a discharging current of the battery; a voltage drop and recovery detection unit for detecting a momentary voltage drop of the battery and a recovery from the voltage drop, in response to a result of detection performed by the voltage detection unit; and a determination unit for determining that an internal short circuit has occurred, when a maximum value of the discharging current detected by the current detection unit between the voltage drop and the recovery is equal to or lower than a threshold current.

Battery internal short-circuit detection apparatus and method, and battery pack

A charge control circuit including a voltage detection section which detects a terminal voltage of a secondary battery; a primary charge processing section which performs a charge processing of acquiring, as a first terminal voltage, a terminal voltage detected by the voltage detection section while causing a charging section to charge the secondary battery; a charging suspend voltage acquiring section which causes the charging section to suspend the charge after the first terminal voltage has been acquired by the primary charge processing section, and acquires, as a second terminal voltage, a terminal voltage detected by the voltage detection section in a state that the charge is suspended; and a charging end determining section which determines whether or not the charge of the secondary battery is to be terminated.

Charge control circuit, and charging device and battery pack incorporated with the same

A battery abnormality detection circuit includes: a SOC detection unit that detects a SOC of a secondary battery; an internal resistance detection unit that detects an internal resistance value of the secondary battery; a first state acquisition unit that acquires a first SOC and a first resistance value at a predetermined first timing; a second state acquisition unit that acquires a second SOC and a second resistance value at a second timing a storage unit that stores in advance relationship information indicating a correspondence relationship between a SOC and an internal resistance value of the secondary battery; a reference variation value setting unit that sets a reference variation value indicating an amount of variation from an internal resistance value corresponding to the first SOC to an internal resistance value corresponding to the second SOC on the basis of the relationship information stored in the storage unit; and a determination unit that determines that an abnormality has occurred in the secondary battery when an amount of variation from the first resistance value to the second resistance value is different from an amount of variation indicated by the reference variation value that has been set by the reference variation value setting unit.

Battery abnormality detection circuit and power supply device

The present invention aims to quickly charge a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a heat-resistant layer between a negative electrode and a positive electrode. A method according to the present invention for charging a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a heat-resistant layer between a negative electrode and a positive electrode is provided with a step of performing pulse charge on the secondary battery, a step of detecting a change amount of a cell voltage associated with a change in the concentration polarization of the non-aqueous electrolyte as a polarization voltage, and a step of terminating the pulse charge when the polarization voltage increases to or above a predetermined threshold value. According to the present invention, it is possible to quickly charge the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including the heat-resistant layer between the negative electrode and the positive electrode at such a borderline level as not to cause overcharge.

Non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery charging method, electronic device, battery pack, and charging device

Provided is a deterioration determination circuit configured by including: an SOC detection unit for detecting an SOC of a secondary battery; an internal resistance detection unit for detecting an internal resistance value of the secondary battery; a first determination unit for determining the status of deterioration of the secondary battery based on the internal resistance value detected by the internal resistance detection unit when the SOC detected by the SOC detection unit is within a range of a pre-set first range; a second determination unit for determining the status of deterioration of the secondary battery based on the internal resistance value detected by the internal resistance detection unit when the SOC detected by the SOC detection unit is within a range of a pre-set second range as a range of an SOC, in which a variation of the internal resistance of the second battery in relation to a variation of the SOC of the secondary battery is different from the first range; and a final determination unit for ultimately determining that the secondary battery is deteriorated when the first determination unit determines that the secondary battery is of the deteriorated status and the second determination unit additionally determines that the secondary battery is of the deteriorated status.

Deterioration determination circuit, power supply apparatus, and deterioration determination method of secondary battery

Provided is a battery pack in which the production of heat due to passage of current in a connector for connecting secondary batteries in parallel is made uniform to increase service life and reduce maintenance costs. A positive terminal connectorcomprises a connectorwith through-holes. The connectoris divided into two regions: a distant region which is distant from the portion connected to an external terminal; and a close region which is close to the connection portion and has the same area as the distant region. The connectoris formed so that the open area ratio of the distant region is greater than that of the close region. Thus, the electrical resistance of the close region can be made smaller than that of the distant region. Therefore, the production of heat due to passage of current in the close region can be suppressed.

Battery pack

A non-aqueous electrolyte battery has a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode has a high-capacity positive electrode portion with a plate area per capacity of smaller than 200 cm/Ah, and a high-power positive electrode portion with a plate area per capacity of 200 cm/Ah or larger. The non-aqueous electrolyte battery is advantageous in providing a battery, with use of a single kind of non-aqueous electrolyte battery, which simultaneously satisfies the requirements on high-capacity characteristics capable of performing a long-term continuous discharge, and on high-power characteristics capable of performing a pulse discharge at a large current, without using a hybrid power supply unit which has multiple kinds of batteries and requires a complex control system.

Non-aqueous electrolyte battery, and power supply unit

A hybrid power supply unit, comprises a high-capacity nonaqueous electrolyte battery group and a high-power nonaqueous electrolyte battery group different in discharge characteristics connected to each other in parallel. The high-capacity nonaqueous electrolyte battery group has a 0.2 C discharge capacity per cell greater than that of the high-power nonaqueous electrolyte battery group, and the high-power nonaqueous electrolyte battery group has a rate of 5 C discharge capacity per cell to 0.2 C discharge capacity per cell (5 C discharge capacity/0.2 C discharge capacity) greater than that of the high-capacity nonaqueous electrolyte battery group.

Hybrid power supply unit

A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes an electrode assembly formed by winding positive and negative electrodes, and an insulating layer together. Each of the electrodes has a core sheet and mixture layers formed on both sides of the sheet. The insulating layer electrically insulates the electrodes. At least one of the electrodes includes a core-exposed portion continuous parallel to the winding direction. Each of the mixture layers has an inclined weight region where the amount of mixture per unit area decreases toward the core-exposed portion, and a constant weight region in which the amount of mixture per unit area is constant. The inclined weight region has a width of not more than 0.2 of the width of the mixture layers and has an average mixture density of not less than 40% and not more than 99% of the mixture density of the constant weight region.

Non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery and battery pack using the same

Positive and negative electrodes include exposed current collector portions at both lengthwise ends, and these exposed current collector portions are bent such as to protrude from the widthwise edge of the electrodes to form welding pieces. The positive and negative electrodes and a separator interposed therebetween are wound around into a flat shape having an ellipsoidal cross section. The welding pieces of the positive and negative electrodes protruding from opposite sides of the wound electrodes are welded together with respective leads. According to this configuration, a simple but high-quality current collector design capable of stable electrical connection in a high power output prismatic electrochemical element is provided.
