Provided is a driving support device () including a control device which has an acceleration suppression function of suppressing acceleration of an own vehicle when the own vehicle is determined to be positioned in a parking area (PA) including a parking spot row (PSA) and an erroneous depression operation is determined to be executed on an accelerator pedal (AP). The control device predicts a trajectory (T) of the own vehicle in a case in which the own vehicle travels when a speed (vs) of the own vehicle is equal to or higher than a predetermined speed, and further predicts a time (Δt) required for the own vehicle to reach a point at which the trajectory (T) and the parking spot row (PSA) intersect with each other. The control device determines that the own vehicle is positioned in the parking area (PA) when the predicted time (Δt) is equal to or shorter than a predetermined time. When the speed (vs) of the own vehicle is lower than the predetermined speed or the own vehicle is stopped, the control device determines that the own vehicle is positioned in the parking area (PA) in a case in which a determination target region (A), which has a predetermined length, extends from the own vehicle toward a traveling direction, and is defined in accordance with a turning angle of the own vehicle, and the parking spot row (PSA) overlap each other.

Provided is an acceleration suppression apparatus having improved practicality. If a vehicle surroundings monitoring apparatus is equipped with four radars disposed at each of the four corners of the body of a vehicle in order to detect an object around the vehicle, the interfere of the radio waves of the radars likely to occur. As a result, the accuracy for detecting an object by the radars will deteriorate. Specifically, if two of detection areas are adjacent to each other of the radars overlaps with each other and the two of the radars transmits radio waves at the same time, the interfere of the radio waves will occur in the overlapping area. In view of this, the four radars are divided into two groups such that the detection areas of two radars within the group aren't adjacent to each other and transmission period of one of the groups and that of the other of the groups are repeated alternately.
