A pillar shaped honeycomb structure for induction heating, the honeycomb structure being made of ceramics and including: an outer peripheral wall; and a partition wall disposed on an inner side of the outer peripheral wall, the partition wall defining a plurality of cells, each of the cells penetrating from one end face to other end face to form a flow path, wherein a composite material containing a conductor and a non-conductor is provided in the cells in a region of 50% or less of the total length of the honeycomb structure from one end face, and wherein the conductor is a conductor that generates heat in response to a change in a magnetic field.

Reducing agent injection device and exhaust gas treatment method

A reducing agent injection device includes a honeycomb structure and a urea spraying device spraying a urea water solution in mist form. A pair of electrode members is formed in the honeycomb structure. The honeycomb structure of the reducing agent injection device, the hydraulic diameter HD, defined as HD=4&#xd7;S/C, when the area of the cross section of one of the cells in the cross section perpendicular to the cell extending direction is S, and the peripheral length of the cross section of one of the cells is C, is 0.8 to 2.0 mm. Also, the open frontal area OFA of the honeycomb structure in the cross section perpendicular to the cell extending direction is 45 to 80%.

A reducing agent injection device includes a first honeycomb structure and a urea spraying device spraying a urea water solution in mist form. A pair of electrode members is formed in the first honeycomb structure. The ratio L/D of length L in the cell extending direction of the honeycomb structure body to diameter D of the cross section perpendicular to the cell extending direction is 0.5 to 1.2. Also, it is preferable that a urea hydrolysis catalyzer is provided in the second end face side of the honeycomb structure body, with a gap from the second end face.

An outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical cell is coated with a heat insulation material. A heat-resistant material is stacked radially outside the heat insulation material. An electrical insulation material is stacked radially outside the heat-resistant material. The order in which the heat insulation material, the heat-resistant material and the electrical insulation material are stacked one on top of another may be changed. A coating material other than the heat insulation material, the heat-resistant material and the electrical insulation material may be provided.

An NaS battery module includes a container, a plurality of cells for an NaS battery and sand. The side walls of the container partition the inside and outside of the container in a direction in which the arrangement plane of the cells extends. An upper wall and a lower wall of the container partition the inside and outside of the container in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the arrangement plane of the cells extends. The lower wall and the side walls are high heat insulating walls whereas the upper wall is a solid low heat insulating wall having a heat insulating property lower than that of the high heat insulating wall. The cells and the sand are housed inside of the container. A variable louver is disposed outside of the upper wall so as to cover the outer surface of the upper wall.
