An HMD includes a first display element, a holder configured to hold the first display element, a first projection optical system configured to project an image formed on the first display element, a barrel which is a case configured to house the first projection optical system in a positioned state, and a dust-proof structure configured to achieve fixing of the holder and the barrel while ensuring dust-proofing of the holder and the barrel, wherein the holder includes a support frame inserted into the barrel through an insertion opening formed at the barrel while supporting the first display element, and a base plate coupled to a root of the support frame, the barrel includes a pedestal facing the base plate, and the dust-proof structure includes an adhesive material extending along a periphery of the base plate and protruding to the pedestal.

Head-mounted display apparatus, optical unit, and manufacturing method of optical unit

There are provided an image element configured to emit imaging light, a case member configured to house the image element, and a light shielding plate that is attached to a positioning portion provided on the case member and that defines an emission region for imaging light from the image element, thereby attaching the light shielding plate to the case member with high accuracy.

Virtual image display device and image element unit

A virtual image display apparatus is provided, which includes a case member housing an image element, a lens barrel housing a projection lens serving as an optical system configured to receive imaging light emitted from the image element, and an elastic sealing member that covers a space between the case member and the lens barrel. With the elastic sealing member, position adjustment between the case member and the lens barrel is performed.

Virtual image display apparatus

A virtual image display apparatus includes a case member that stores a image element and is provided with a first end connected to other members, an optical component holding member with which an optical component guiding image light from the image element is assembled and that is provided with a second end connected to the first end, three or more protruding portions that are provided at one of the first end and the second end, have protrusion shapes, and extend toward the other end, three or more grooves that are provided at the other end, have depression shapes corresponding to the three or more protruding portions, and extend, and adhesive portions that fix the three or more protruding portions to the three or more grooves in a state in which the case member is aligned with the optical component holding member.

An illumination system includes: a light source that emits light; and a light guide that introduces the light through a light-incident end face facing the light source and that lets out the light from a light-exiting surface adjacent to the light-incident end face. The light source is disposed adjacent to the light-incident end face and in the position shifted from the center of the width of the light guide intersecting the direction in which the light source emits light. The light-incident end face of the light guide has at least one projection or recess in the direction intersecting the light-exiting direction of the light source. The projection or recess has an asymmetrical shape inclined in the direction intersecting the light-exiting direction of the light source. The projection or recess is inclined in one of directions intersecting the light-exiting direction of the light source.
