A connector includes a housing and a plurality of signal contacts and a plurality of ground contacts. Each contact includes a contact portion that contacts an object, a connection portion mounted on a substrate, and a fixing portion located between the contact portion and the connection portion in the vicinity of the connection portion. The signal contact and the ground contact are aligned and held in the housing, and the fixing portion is fixed to the housing. When the plurality of signal contacts are arranged between the ground contacts, at least two of the ground contacts are coupled and connected integrally or by a separate component, the coupling and connection being made in a section of each ground contact between one end (leading end) of the contact portion and the fixing portion, so that high-frequency transmission characteristics are improved.

Connector

In the case that a distance between contact portions and fixed portions of contacts of a connector is 2 mm or more, the contacts are each provided with an engaging portion in the proximity of the fixed portion, and the housing is provided in the inserting holes for the contacts with anchoring portions at locations corresponding to the engaging portions of the contacts so that the engaging portions of the contacts engage the anchoring portions of the housing, thereby preventing the contact portions of the contacts from being deformed and collapsed into a fitting opening by a connecting object, and preventing the contacts from buckling or being damaged and hence preventing any defective electrical connection.

Electric connector

A connector includes a housing and a required number of pusher members. The housing has a fitting aperture into which two or at least three flexible printed circuit boards are inserted and insertion openings for holding the required number of the pusher members. When the two or at least three flexible printed circuit boards are inserted into the fitting aperture of the housing, contact portions of the two or at least three flexible printed circuit boards are urged by the pusher members so as to be connected to each other to achieve electrical continuity of the connector. With this construction, the connector can be mounted on anywhere with the exception of a flexible printed circuit board as by adhesion or pushing down by a frame of the set without using soldering, thereby permitting low cost manufacture and wide freedom of selection of connector mechanisms.

A connector includes a plurality of contacts each having at one end a contact portion adapted to contact a connecting object, at the other end a connection portion to be connected to a substrate or the like, and between the contact and connection portions a fixed portion to be arranged and held in a housing so that the contact portion is displaceable about the fixed portion as a fulcrum in a cantilevered manner relative to the housing arranging and holding the contacts. If the thickness of the housing where the contact portions of the contacts are displaceable is not more than 0.6 to 0.7 mm, the housing is provided with a protrusion formed with a hole to permit the contact portions to be displaceable in the hole, thereby ensuring sufficient contact pressures to obtain stable connection with a mating connector without unintended deformations of the contacts.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector includes a plurality of contacts, a housingfor holding and fixing the contactstherein and having a fitting portionwith which a mating object is fitted, and two shellsandcovering the housing. One shellof the two shells comprises at a predetermined position with respect to its longitudinal direction a required number of substantially L-shaped engagement portionintegrally formed on the one shell. With this construction, even with an electrical connector of miniaturization of height of less thanmm, it is possible to provide a connectorwhose shellsandare prevented from being deformed due to undue forces accidentally acting upon the coaxial cables
