In effecting the stretching by using a stretch rod in a method of producing a biaxially stretched polyester bottle, the air is blown into the preform at such a flow rate that the preform does not come in contact with the stretch rod but the end thereof and does not come in contact with the surfaces of the mold, either. There can be produced a biaxially stretched polyester bottle having an average thickness of about 0.05 to about 0.2 mm or having a further decreased thickness using a resin in decreased amounts and having a decreased weight without developing burst or whitening caused by over-stretching, without forming ring-like thick portion yet maintaining a good yield and efficiency.

Method of producing biaxially stretched polyester bottles

The invention realizes easy manufacturing of a flat container molded by blow molding, in which the wall thickness of a container wall is made uniform, and which provides improved mechanical strength, heat resistance, etc. and has a good appearance. The flat container obtained by the blow molding of a polyester resin is characterized in that the container has a flatness ratio of not less than 1.3, and in that its body has a wall thickness ratio of a maximum wall thickness to a minimum wall thickness of not more than 1.6, a difference in elongation between a maximally stretched portion and a minimally stretched portion of not more than 150% in a tensile test at 95&#xb0; C., a crystallinity of not less than 30%, and a difference in TMA non-load change between a maximally stretched portion and a minimally stretched portion of not more than 500 &#x3bc;m at 75&#xb0; C. and 100&#xb0; C.

The invention also provides for an apparatus for feeding molten resin, wherein the apparatus includes holding units each having a respective holding portion that is opened and closed to hold a molten resin that is discharged from an extrusion port of a die head of an extruder and is cut by a cutter while moving on a track, in which, after the respective holding portion transfers the molten resin from the extrusion port to a female mold, a side of the respective holding portion is opened and the molten resin is fed down to the female mold in a compression-molding machine, wherein a plurality of longitudinal grooves extending up and down are formed in an inner circumferential surface of the respective holding portion that holds the molten resin.

A biaxially stretched polyester bottle of which a central part of a bottle body portion satisfies at least either (1) that an elongation in the circumferential direction is larger than an elongation in the longitudinal direction in the tensile test at room temperature or (2) that an orientation parameter in the circumferential direction is smaller than an orientation parameter in the longitudinal direction in the Raman spectrometry. Despite the body portion having an average thickness as small as 250 &#x3bc;m or less, the bottle has a drop impact resistance while exhibiting excellent appearance.

Apparatus for feeding molten resin includes a holding unit that moves on a track and at least a pair of holders capable of holding and releasing the molten resin accompanying the opening and closing of the holding unit. A base portion is utilized for supporting the holders so as to be opened and closed and for holding the molten resin together with the holders. The molten resin discharged from an extrusion-forming machine and cut by a cutter is held by the holding unit, and it fed from the holding unit to a female mold of a compression-0molding machine. At the time of cutting the molten resin, a cutter mark is formed by the cutter on a cut surface of the molten resin.
