One mode is a method for the structural analysis of an organic compound by MALDI mass spectrometry, including: a sample preparation process (S) which includes preparing a sample by mixing a specimen containing an organic compound to be analyzed with a predetermined matrix at a mixture ratio within a range from 1:5 to 1:5000 in molar ratio; a mass spectrometry process (S) which includes irradiating the prepared sample with a laser beam having a spot size equal to or smaller than 15 &#x3bc;m to generate ions originating from a component of the specimen in the sample, and performing a mass spectrometric analysis of the generated ions; and an analyzing process (S) which includes detecting, from a mass spectrum acquired in the mass spectrometry process, ions including product ions resulting from in-source decay, and estimating the structure of the organic compound to be analyzed based on information concerning the ions.

Method for structural analysis of organic compound

Imaging mass spectrometry section () performs a mass spectrometric analysis at each of the micro areas set within a measurement area on a target sample, and acquires a graphical image showing a signal-intensity distribution at a specific mass-to-charge ratio or mass-to-charge-ratio range. Quantitative analysis section () determines a quantitative value using an analysis result obtained by performing an analysis on the sample collected from each predetermined site within the measurement area of the target sample, using a predetermined analytical technique exhibiting a higher level of quantitative determination performance than the mass spectrometric analysis. Processing section () determines the relationship between signal intensity and quantitative value, based on quantitative values determined for the sample at predetermined sites and signal intensities at positions corresponding to the predetermined sites in the signal-intensity distribution, and estimates the quantitative value at an arbitrary position within the signal-intensity distribution, using the relationship.

Imaging mass spectrometry system and analytical method using imaging mass spectrometry

An analyzing device includes: a measurement data acquisition unit that acquires measurement data obtained by irradiating a plurality of irradiation positions on a sample with a laser beam and performing mass spectrometry on a sample component corresponding to each irradiation position; and an analysis unit that performs analysis of the measurement data by excluding a set of data corresponding to an excluded irradiation position among the plurality of irradiation positions each having a different irradiation portion from which a portion that has been already irradiated with the laser beam is excluded in an irradiation range irradiated when the laser beam is irradiated to each irradiation position.

Analyzing device, analytical device, analyzing method, and computer program product

After a sample such as a biomedical tissue section is attached to an electrically-conductive slide glass (S), the film layer of a matrix substance is appropriately formed by vapor deposition so as to cover the sample (S). The crystal of the matrix substance in the film layer is very fine and uniform. Subsequently, the slide glass on which the matrix film layer is formed is placed in a vaporized solvent atmosphere, and the solvent infiltrates into the matrix film layer (S). When the solvent sufficiently infiltrated is vaporized, a substance to be measured in the sample takes in the matrix and re-crystallized. Furthermore, the matrix film layer is formed again on the surface by the vapor deposition (S). The added matrix film layer absorbs excessive energy of a laser beam during MALDI, which suppresses the denaturation of the substance to be measured and the like, so that high detection sensitivity can be achieved while high spatial resolution is maintained.
