A pressure receiving surface inclined to a rotation axis is provided on the side surface of a stir probe of a rotating tool. The pressure receiving surface includes a pressure receiving region which is always perpendicular to a rotation tangential direction in a cross section perpendicular to the rotation axis. In friction stir processing, the stir probe is caused to rotate in a rotation direction B in which the normal direction of the pressure receiving surface is positive. According to this kind of rotating tool, as it has no shoulder, a joint width does not increase even when a stirring region is deep, and also, a plastic flow in a rotation direction is generated by a pressure receiving surface, so that it is possible to reduce the proportion of the plastic flow in the rotation axis direction, and thus possible to suppress an occurrence of burr.

The present invention provides a dynamoelectric stator and a method for the manufacture thereof enabling electrical insulation properties to be improved by forming slot-housed portions with a racetrack-shaped cross section to suppress damage to an electrically-insulating coating arising during mounting of a stator winding to a stator core. The construction is such that the slot-housed portions of the stator winding are formed with the racetrack-shaped cross section, and are housed inside slots so as to line up in single columns in a radial direction with a longitudinal direction of the cross section of the slot-housed portions aligned in a circumferential direction. Thus, because short sides of the slot-housed portions facing inner circumferential side surfaces of the slots form convex curved surfaces, the occurrence of damage to the electrically-insulating coating resulting from rubbing between the short sides of the slot-housed portions and the inner circumferential side surfaces of the slots during insertion of the slot-housed portions into the slots is suppressed, thereby improving electrical insulation properties.

Stator of dynamoelectric machine and method for manufacturing stator winding

The present invention provides a rotor for a rotary electric machine that suppresses the occurrence of winding disturbances in the process of winding a coil wire and has a coil field having a uniform outside diameter that is less likely to collapse. A coil field of a rotor coil is constructed by winding a coil wire having a circular cross section onto an outer circumference of a drum portion of a bobbin in multiple layers so as to make columns in each of the layers equal in number in an axial direction. Odd numbered layers of the coil field are constructed such that the coil wire is wound for approximately one turn around the drum portion in contact with an inner peripheral wall surface of a first flange portion of the bobbin, then wound into a plurality of columns in an axial direction such that the columns of the coil wire contact each other, and the coil wire in a final column forms a gap S relative to an inner peripheral wall surface of a second flange portion of the bobbin, and even numbered layers of the coil field are constructed such that the coil wire is wound for approximately one turn around the drum portion in contact with an inner peripheral wall surface of the second flange portion, then wound into a plurality of columns in an axial direction such that the columns of the coil wire contact each other, and the coil wire in a final column forms a gap S relative to an inner peripheral wall surface of the first flange portion. The gap S satisfies an expression D/4&#x2266;S&#x2266;D/2 relative to a diameter D of the coil wire. Thus, because the occurrence of winding disturbances in the process of winding the coil wire is suppressed, the coil wire can be wound into an aligned state, enabling a coil field that is less likely to collapse to be achieved, and the outside diameter of the coil field is made uniform, also preventing damage to an electrically-insulating coating resulting from contact with claw-shaped magnetic poles.
