Provided is a regeneration device for heating a treatment liquid in a phase-separated state due to absorption of an acidic compound to release the acidic compound and regenerate the treatment liquid. The regeneration device includes a container for storing the treatment liquid, and a first wall that partitions a space in the container into a first space and a second space. The first space includes: a heating region that receives the treatment liquid supplied from an outside of the container and in which a heating unit for heating the treatment liquid is disposed; and a static region that receives the treatment liquid from the heating region, the treatment liquid having released the acidic compound by being heated by the heating unit. The second space allows the treatment liquid having released the acidic compound to be discharged. The first wall is provided with an opening through which the treatment liquid in the static region flows into the second space.

A method for producing a briquetted solid fuel includes pulverizing a low-rank coal. The pulverized low-rank coal is mixed with a solvent oil to give a slurry. The slurry is heated and dewatered to give a dewatered slurry. The solvent oil is separated from the dewatered slurry to give a cake. The cake is heated to further separate the solvent oil from the cake to thereby give a refined coal in powder form. The refined coal is combined with a property-controlling coal in powder form having, as properties, a loose bulk density of 0.6 kg/L or more and an angle of repose of 40&#xb0; or less, to give a briquetting feedstock containing the property-controlling coal in an amount of 5 to 70 mass percent based on the total mass of the briquetting feedstock. The briquetting feedstock is briquetted under pressure to give the briquetted solid fuel in briquette form.

The present invention provides a method for producing a high-quality reduced metal using an upgraded coal as a carbonaceous material to be incorporated. In the method, coal is first aged by heating in an organic solvent to produce upgraded coal for metallurgy having higher thermal plasticity than that of the coal. Then, a mixture of the upgraded coal for metallurgy and a metal oxide-containing raw material is agglomerated by an agglomerator, and the resultant agglomerates are reduced by heating in a furnace and then melted by further heating to produce a reduced melt. The reduced melt is cooled and solidified in the furnace to produce a reduced solid. The reduced solid is discharged to the outside of the furnace and slag is removed using a screen to recover a metal as a reduced metal.

This method is a process in which low-grade coal containing water in a large proportion and hence having a low calorific value is dewatered in an oil to thereby upgrade the coal to a high-calorie fuel for thermal power generation, wherein the vapor mixture to be supplied to a compressor can be purified.
