A vehicle occupant detection system includes: an identification unit that identifies whether or not an object in a vehicle is a person; a first detection unit that detects a velocity at which a person identified by the identification unit moves; a second detection unit that detects a situation regarding seating of the person identified by the identification unit; an output unit that outputs the situation regarding seating of the person, detected by the second detection unit; and a control unit that permits or prohibits output of the situation regarding seating of the person by the output unit on the basis of the velocity at which the person moves, detected by the first detection unit.

Further, by adding the evaluation information to map data and displaying this map data at the time of use, the navigation system enables the user to revisit a point through which the user desires to pass once again, bypass a point through which the user desires to never pass again, and so on without requiring the user's work of consciously memorizing the impression about each point and so on.

Thus, it can increase the possibility for a user with a low recognition vocabulary comprehension level to achieve a task, or for a user with a high recognition vocabulary comprehension level to improve the comfortableness of the operation, thereby being able to provide all the users with the optimum operational transition.
