Disclosed is a detergent composition for hard surface, containing (A) a monoalkyl glyceryl ether whose alkyl group has 3 to 8 carbon atoms, (B) a specific compound represented by the formula (1), (C) an amine, (D) a polyvalent carboxylic acid having a molecular weight of 40 to 400 and/or a salt thereof, (E) a surfactant provided that (A) and (B) are excluded from (E), and water, wherein the mass ratio of (A)/(B), the content of (A)+(B), the mass ratio of (C)/(D), and the content of (C)+(D) are respectively in a specific range, and the pH of the detergent composition at 20&#xb0; C. is 9.5 to 11.5.

Detergent composition for hard surface

The invention provides a liquid detergent composition which is safe, has an excellent detergency and contains a hydrophobic organic solvent stable despite of a large water content. The present invention relates to a liquid detergent composition comprising (a) a specific compound having an alkyl or alkenyl group having 3 to 11 carbon atoms and a group having 4 to 30 carbon atoms in total and 2 to 10 hydroxy groups, (b) a hydrophobic organic solvent which is liquid at 20&#xb0; C. and (c) water, wherein (b)/(c)=0.05/9.95 to 4/6 (mass ratio) and (b)+(c)=50 to 99 mass %.

Liquid detergent composition

A detergent composition for hard surfaces includes (a) 0.1-30 wt. % of a cationic surfactant represented by the general formula (1) or (2): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 6-11 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is a methyl group or a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 6-11 carbon atoms, R.sup.3 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 6-11 carbon atoms, and X is a halogen atom or a residue of an alkylsulfuric acid; (b) 0.1-20 wt. % of a sequestering agent; and (c) 0.1-20 wt. % of a water-soluble solvent. The composition has a pH of 3-12. Since the detergent composition is excellent in the ability to decompose and solubilize metallic soap scum, the dirt on a bathtub and the like in a bathroom can be quickly and easily cleansed off.
