A fastener chain according to the present invention includes left and right fastener stringers. Each fastener stringer includes a fastener tape and an element row. The element row is formed of fastener elements arranged in a coil shape. The fastener tape includes an element-attached portion and a tape bent portion extending from the element-attached portion and bent in a substantially U-shape. The fastener stringers include respective restraining members in contact with the tape bent portions. Each restraining member is formed by deforming a linear member, and the linear member includes a portion extending in a direction for increasing an overall height dimension of the restraining member. Thus, even when a strong lateral pulling force is applied to the fastener tapes while the element rows are in an engaged state, the element rows can be made less visible from the outside of the fastener.

Fastener chain

A coil-shaped fastener element is sewn to a fastener tape without using a core string. An upper leg portion of the fastener element has a first upper surface continued from a connecting portion and contacting a sewing thread, and a second upper surface extending and sloping upward from the first upper surface via a bent portion. A height dimension between a top end surface and the bent portion of the upper leg portion is 20% or larger of a height dimension of the fastener element. The upper leg portion has a first lower surface which is sloped to be apart from the fastener tape toward a coupling head portion, and the upper leg portion has an element contacting portion in an area of the first lower surface. Thereby, cost reduction of the slide fastener can be attained, and the fastener element can be prevented from passing through the sewing thread and exiting.

Fastener chain and slide fastener

A monofilament having, in cross section, a first width and a second width being orthogonal to the first width and being greater than the first width is helically wound about the circumference surface of the mandrel. Each helical unit included in the configured helix of the monofilament includes a pair of legs, a first coupling portion coupled between said pair of legs, and a second coupling portion coupled between one leg of said pair of legs and the other leg of a pair of legs in an adjacent helical unit. The second width of said first coupling portion is oriented along the axial direction of the mandrel. The first coupling portion in each helical unit in the helix is pressed such that the second width of the first coupling portion is widened in its width direction, thereby forming an engagement head.

Method of producing a fastener element

A stretchable fastener stringer for a slide fastener includes a fastener tape having a tape main portion and an element attaching portion and a continuous fastener element which is attached to the element attaching portion. The fastener tape has stretchability due to an elastic yarn being combined by weaving or knitting and the fastener element includes a coupling head, upper and lower leg portions which are extended from the coupling head and a connecting portion which connects the upper and lower leg portions, therebetween of adjacent fastener elements. In this fastener stringer, a value of a bulging ratio which is the ratio between a dimension of the coupling head in the tape longitudinal direction and a dimension of the upper and lower leg portions in the tape longitudinal direction is set to be larger than 1.80 and not larger than 2.33.

The invention provides a linear slide fastener wherein a concave portion accommodating a fixing thread for fixing a fastener tape is provided on a top face of an upper leg portion of a coil-like/zigzag-like linear fastener element, when dimensions from a bottom face of a lower leg portion to a top face of the upper leg portion on a coupling head side, at the concave portion and on an inverted portion side are assumed to be H, Hand H, a setting condition of H&#x3e;H&#x3e;His satisfied and when dimensions from a bottom face of the upper leg portion to a top face of the lower leg portion within a gap portion on the coupling head side, at a convex portion and on the inverted portion side are assumed to be H, Hand Hrespectively, a setting condition of H&#x3e;H&#x3e;His satisfied.
