Fanned air generated by a fan to cool a motor is discharged from a housing through fanned air discharge ports toward an opening formed in a base. The fanned air discharged toward the opening is then introduced into a groove in fluid communication with the opening. The groove is formed in a bottom surface of the base and has an open side at a front side of the base. The fanned air is then discharged from the front side of the base, blowing off saw dust on a cutting object so as to prevent dust from accumulating on a marking line on the cutting object.

Portable electric cutting device with blower mechanism

A portable circular saw providing high visibility to a cutting mark line and sufficient operability even in case of an angled cutting. A slant position fixing member upstands from a front side of a base, and a tiltable plate is provided pivotally to the base. A front end of a saw cover is connected to the tiltable plate by a pivot pin. A main body roratably supporting a circular saw blade is pivotally movable by a pivotal movement of the tiltable plate to change inclination of the circular saw blade relative to the base. The tiltable plate is positioned in confrontation with the slant position fixing member, and fastening unit fixes the tiltable plate to the slant position fixing member to maintain a desired inclination of the circular saw blade. The fastening unit includes a thread extending through an arcuate slot formed in the slant position fixing member and engaging the tiltable plate, and a lever fixed to one end of the thread. The lever has a pressure surface in pressure contact with an abutment surface of the slant position fixing member. The abutment surface is in a form of a slant surface.

A portable circular saw is disclosed which includes a mechanism for simply and efficiently adjusting parallelism of the saw blade to the base. Two connecting members positioned at the front and rear of the saw connect the base of the saw to the saw cover, and the mechanism for adjusting parallelism is part of the front connecting member.

An electric circular saw of the type including a mechanism for tilting a base relative to the plane of a blade is provided wherein a side knob for being gripped by the user during cutting operation pivotally connects the base and a body of the circular saw through a base attachment portion and a bevel plate having an arcuate guide groove extending through an angular distance corresponding to a tilt angle of the base relative to the blade. The side knob is threaded to the base attachment portion and movable together with the base when the base is tilted. The side knob is spaced from a guide surface of the base by a distance at least larger than a maximum radius of the side knob. The distance between the base and the side knob is constant regardless of the relative angular position of said base and the blade, so that circular saw can be held stably and hence is capable of performing an accurate cutting operation.
