A metal gasket has a primary bead formed on an area positioned between a cylinder bore and a cooling water passage. A second bead is formed on an area corresponding to an opening of one or more cooling passages. A base member of the metal gasket comprises bead plates that have a rubber coating layer. The base member also comprises a shim member disposed between the bead plates. The primary bead is formed by defining a space respectively between the bead plates and the shim member. The secondary bead is formed by defining a space on a given area between the bead plates.

Sealing structure using metal gasket

A metal gasket is made up of a backing material made of stainless steel, a galvanizing film is formed on a surface of the backing material, and a sealing rubber film is formed on a surface of the galvanizing film. In one embodiment a silane coupling type vulcanizing adhesive is applied to the surface of the galvanizing film and heated at a temperature of 100&#xb0; C. to 200&#xb0; C. for a prescribed period to generate a zinc oxide film on the surface of the galvanizing film and to bake the silane coupling type vulcanizing adhesive. Vinylidene fluoride type rubber containing a polyol type vulcanizing agent can be calcined onto its surface to form the sealing rubber film. The metal gasket can be provided on a mating surface of a cylinder head and a cylinder body of an engine provided in an outboard motor.

Metal gasket for marine engine

A mounting assembly for an anode of a corrosion protection system extends the useful life of the anode and hence the effectiveness of the system. The anode is mounted within an opening of an outboard motor engine. The engine also includes a coolant passage that extends through the engine and forms a portion of a cooling system. A biasing device biases the anode to contact the engine body. The anode also includes multiple contact surfaces which establish a plurality of electrical connections between the anode and the engine. In one mode, an electrically conductive cover links the anode to the engine at a point outside the opening. A seal is positioned between the opening and the cover to protect this electrical coupling. This outside connection thus ensures good electrical coupling between the anode and the engine body outside the presence of the coolant (e.g., salt water) flowing through the coolant passage.

Outboard motor cooling and anode system

A lubricating system for a two cycle internal combustion engine as applied to an outboard motor wherein small amounts of lubricant can be pumped by a diaphragm type pump through the use of an air bleed that mixes air with the lubricant being pumped. Pulsation variations are minimized by supplying the pump with lubricant with a constant volume delivery chamber.
