A marine vessel includes a steering mechanism to improve the operability of an operator that changes a speed of the marine vessel. The steering mechanism includes a steering wheel, a speed increasing paddle to accelerate the marine vessel, and a speed decreasing paddle to decelerate the marine vessel.

A vessel operation system includes a propulsion apparatus mountable on a hull of a vessel and that includes a prime mover, a steering to change a steering angle of a thrust generated by the propulsion apparatus with respect to the hull, a speed sensor to detect a speed corresponding to a traveling speed of the vessel or a rotational speed of the prime mover, and a controller configured or programmed to control the steering so as to change a maximum value of the steering angle in accordance with a speed data based on the speed detected by the speed sensor.

A first outboard motor attached to a vessel body receives an electric operating signal and is controlled in accordance with the electric operating signal. A second outboard motor attached to the vessel body receives a mechanical operating amount and is controlled in accordance with the mechanical operating amount. An operating tool controls shifting and a throttle opening degree of each of the first and second outboard motors. The electric operating signal is transmitted through a first transmission path to the first outboard motor based on an operation of the operating tool. The mechanical operating amount is transmitted through a second transmission path to the second outboard motor based on an operation of the operating tool.
