There is provided a lamp burst sound reduction structure which may have an enlarged part in an intermediate position of a duct through which cooling air for cooling a light emitting unit of a lamp flows, the enlarged part may have a cross section area larger than a cross section area of the duct, the lamp being a light source of a projector.

The present invention provides a projection type display unit including a light source, an optical unit including a light valve and a projection lens, and a cooling section for cooling the light source and the optical unit. The light source and the optical unit as well as the cooling section are incorporated in an armor cabinet. A highly heat conductive sheet metal component part is disposed in a space between a lamp as the light source and the armor cabinet.

A liquid crystal display device constrains the injection of air bubbles in a cooling fluid into a display panel. In the display device, the cooling fluid is supplied to a receiving space of a receiving unit placed and opposed to a surface of a liquid crystal panel to which the light is emitted from a light source to thereby cool the liquid crystal panel. Namely, by a cooling fluid pump, the cooling fluid received in the receiving unit is drained from a drain port and the cooling fluid is supplied from a feed port to the receiving unit and received in the receiving space. In the above case, a part of a flow path of the cooling fluid supplied from the feed port is blocked by a flow path block unit placed and opposed to the feed port to thereby disperse the flow thereof around the flow path block unit.

Disclosed herein is a lamp cooling device for cooling a lamp including a light emission source for emitting light, a front transparent plate, a reflector for reflecting light emitted by the light emission source toward the front transparent plate, the light emission source being disposed in an intralamp space surrounded by the front transparent plate and the reflector, said lamp cooling device including: a duct having joint ports defined in respective opposite ends thereof and communicating with said intralamp space, said duct having a continuously extending portion between said opposite ends which is disposed in a space outside of said intralamp space, for circulating a gas through said duct and said intralamp space in isolated relation to the space outside of said intralamp space.

A liquid crystal panel in which temperature rise of the liquid crystal panel is sufficiently restrained by cooling the panel by means of a cooling liquid, and exudation of the cooling liquid toward the liquid crystal material is prevented. Disclosed are cover members attached to the liquid crystal panel that form cavities on the light entrance and exit sides of the panel. The cover members are such that a sealed portion of the liquid crystal material is not in contact with the cavities. The cover members are light transmitting. The cavities are filled with the cooling liquid.

In an LCD projector or other projection type display apparatus which uses a lamp such as a xenon lamp for a light source, the lamp is cooled efficiently without increasing ambient noises or without causing the whole apparatus to become large-sized, and at the same time the lifetime and the reliability of a fan which cools the lamp is made improved. When fansandwhich are disposed on a front side of the lamp mounted with a heat sinkrotate, external air of ordinary temperature is taken inlet and guided into ductsandso as to be blown onto the front face of the lamp by means of the fansand. Then, high temperature air which was warmed by being blown onto the lamp is exhausted from an outlet to the outside.

A projector having flat outside surfaces when not in use and a control panel disposed at an upper portion of a main body of the projector during use. A front cover is provided with a control panel on its back side and is rotatably supported on the main body by double hinge mechanisms such that the projector is box-shaped when the front cover is stored in a storage position for covering the front side of a projection lens, and a surface of the front cover is inclined and directed to the rear upper side of the projector main body when the front cover is rotated from the storage position to an open position. Loudspeakers are incorporated in the cover so that the loudspeakers are projected at an upper portion of the main body when the front cover is rotated from the storage position to the open position.

A projection display device includes an optical unit, a cooling fan for cooling the circumference of light valves of the optical unit, and an exterior cabinet accommodating the optical unit and the cooling fan. The cooling fan is in the form of a sirocco fan. Cooling air of the cooling fan is brought to the circumference of the light valves through a duct, and is distributed by air-quantity controlling means arranged in the duct for effective cooling thereof.

A display apparatus of the projection type is improved in that, when a lamp valve breaks or is to be replaced, glass fragments and so forth thereof are prevented from being scattered into the inside of an outer housing of a projector apparatus through a cooling air intake port in a portion of the outer casing below the lamp valve and a comparatively small number of cooling fans are used to reduce the size and the weight of the overall display apparatus while optical modulation elements, a light source element and so forth can be forcibly cooled in a high efficiency. Cooling air blasted from an air blasting fan is blasted through an air blasting duct to three spatial optical modulation elements, a PS conversion element and a discharge lamp to forcibly air-cool the elements. A lamp box in which the light source is accommodated and which is removably mounted in an outer housing has a cooling air intake port through which cooling air is taken in to the light source. A shutter mechanism automatically opens the cooling air intake port when the lamp box is mounted in position into the outer housing, but automatically closes up the cooling air intake port when the lamp box is removed outwardly from the outer housing.
