A storage device started when connected to a computer so as to be able to communicate. The storage device includes: an interface for controlling communication with the computer, a data storage unit for storing data received from the computer via the interface, a radio signal processing unit for receiving radio signals including ID information at a predetermined timing and for authenticating the received ID information, and a control unit for encrypting data using the authenticated ID information as a key, for sending the encrypted data to a data storage unit, and for disabling communication with the computer via the interface when radio signals including the authenticated ID information are not received by the radio signal processing unit within a predetermined period of time.

It is the object of the present invention to provide an improved peripheral unit, incorporating an MPU, that can reduce power consumption appropriately in accordance with mode transition when a host command from a host computer system is being processed, and a control method therefor. An MPU that requires a large amount of power, for example, is activated only when necessary, such as for the processing of a command (host command) from a computer system (host), and is deactivated during all other periods, by relinquishing the right of controlling of the operations to the respective sequencer circuits. The first sequencer circuit is activated only when necessary, such as for the transfer of data to the computer system. For the hardware operation of a device (e.g., writing data to or reading data from the device), the first sequencer circuit is deactivated, relinquishing the control right of that operation to the second sequencer circuit. On the other hand, for the transfer of data to the computer system, the second sequencer circuit is deactivated, relinquishing the control right of that operation to the first sequencer circuit. The present invention concerns an image display method and an image display circuit for superimposing digital video data on external digital video data. An object of the invention is to provide an image display method and a display circuit through which color bleeding and image flickering are not generated on an image-generated based on the external digital video data when the digital video data is superimposed on the external digital video data. A comparison shift clock whose phase is led from that of a dot clock is generated and external digital video data is latched thereby. A comparison shift clock whose phase is delayed from that of the dot clock is formed and the external digital video data is latched thereby. The respective values latched by the dot clock and the comparison shift clocks are compared with one another. If the respective values do not coincide with one another, external digital video data in which the position of the change point of the data is shifted is generated.
