A multilayered polyester film which comprises a polyester film and, disposed on at least one surface thereof, a layer X which has a contact angel HX(1) with water of 0-60°, wherein the layer X has a degree of crystallinity C(0) of 0-30%. HX(1): Contact angle at one second after water has come into contact with layer X. A polyester film having excellent recoverability is provided by disposing a layer X on at least one surface of a polyester film, the layer X having a regulated contact angle with water and a regulated degree of crystallinity.

Multilayered polyester film

A biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film has at least one surface of which has protrusions each having a height of 1 nm or more and less than 2 nm at a density of 1&#xd7;10to 1&#xd7;10protrusions per mm. The thermoplastic resin film is capable of suppressing generation of coarse protrusions and contaminants, and defects in a processing process while having slipperiness.

Biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film

A biaxially orientated polyester film has a P/Vratio of 0.3 to 1.2, Pand Vrepresenting the average diameter of the convex portions and the average diameter of the concave portions, respectively, that are defined on the basis of a slice level with a height of 0 nm (reference plane) in a roughness curve determined for at least one surface using a three dimensional surface roughness meter, and the convex portions accounting for an area ratio of 30% to 51% of the reference plane. The biaxially oriented polyester film is excellent in travelling property, slitting property, and dimensional stability, and serves, when used for magnetic recording medium production, to provide a high density magnetic recording medium having a smooth magnetic layer, suffering little dimensional change due to variations in environmental parameters such as temperature and humidity or due to storage, and having good electromagnetic conversion characteristics with little dropout.

Biaxially oriented polyester film

This film provides a polyethylene terephthalate film whereby dimensional variation in various steps can be reduced, particularly when the film is used as a substrate film for a flexible device, and that is suitable as a substrate film having minimal curl and excellent appropriateness for processing. This biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate film has a degree of crystallinity (Xc) of 0.35 to 0.50, the intrinsic viscosity (IV) of the resin constituting the film is 0.66-1.0 dl/g, the coefficient of thermal expansion at a temperature of 50-170&#xb0; C. in each of the machine direction and transverse direction of the film is 0.29 ppm/&#xb0; C., and the degree of thermal shrinkage at 180&#xb0; C. in each of the machine direction and transverse direction of the film is 0.5%-1.0%.

Biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate film and method for producing same

A biaxially oriented polyester film has a ratio of Young's modulus in the transverse direction to Young's modulus in the machine direction of 1.5 to 3, an average value of refractive indices in the machine direction, in the transverse direction, and in the thickness direction of 1.590 to 1.680, a minor melting peak temperature of 160 to 190&#xb0; C., and a coefficient of hygroscopic expansion in the transverse direction of 0 to 6 ppm/% RH.

Biaxially oriented polyester film and linear magnetic recording medium

It is aimed to provide a polyarylene sulfide film for an acoustic instrument vibrating plate excellent in heat resistance, molding processability, acoustic properties, and also heat moldability. Provided is a polyarylene sulfide film wherein the elongation at break in either a longitudinal direction or a width direction of the film is 100% or more and 250% or less, and the Young's modulus in either a longitudinal direction or a width direction of the film is 1.5 GPa or more and less than 4 GPa.

[Problem to be solved] To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film, which suffers only small dimensional changes due to changes in environmental temperature and humidity and due to storage, ensures low error rates, and can little abrade the magnetic head and the magnetic tape, when used as a base film of a magnetic recording medium, and which can be used to provide a high density magnetic recording medium excellent in running durability. [Solution] A biaxially oriented polyester film having an islands-in-sea structure, an average island domain size of 30 to 200 nm, and a coefficient of hygroscopic expansion of 0 to 6.0 ppm/% RH at least either in the machine direction or in the transverse direction of the film.

Biaxially oriented polyester film and magnetic recording medium

A biaxially oriented polyphenylene sulfide film contains polyphenylene sulfide and polyether imide, wherein the contents of the polyphenylene sulfide and the polyether imide are 70 to 99 parts by weight and 1 to 30 parts by weight respectively when the total amount of the polyphenylene sulfide and the polyether imide is taken as 100 parts by weight, and further contains a compound having one or more groups selected from an epoxy group, an amino group and an isocyanate group as a compatibilizing agent in an amount of 0.1 to 10 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the polyphenylene sulfide and polyether imide in total, and the polyether imide forms a dispersed phase with an average particle diameter of 10 to 500 nm and the biaxially oriented polyphenylene sulfide film exhibits a tensile elongation at break of 110 to 250% in both the longitudinal direction and width direction.

A biaxially oriented polyarylene sulfide film made of a polyarylene sulfide resin composition has a melt crystallization temperature of not lower than 160&#xb0; C. and not higher than 220&#xb0; C. The biaxially oriented polyarylene sulfide film contains 70 to 99 parts by weight of the polyarylene sulfide and 1 to 30 parts by weight of thermoplastic resin A; the thermoplastic resin A constitutes a dispersed phase having an average dispersion diameter of 50 nm to 500 nm. The biaxially oriented polyarylene sulfide film has a breaking stress at 200&#xb0; C. in the machine direction and/or transverse direction of not less than 30 MPa and not more than 90 MPa and has an elongation at break at 200&#xb0; C. in the machine direction and/or transverse direction of not less than 100% and not more than 250%.

A magnetic recording medium substrate has a polyester film having metallic oxide-containing layers (layers M) formed on both the surfaces, one layer on each surface, the layers M having a thickness of 50 to 200 nm each, characterized in that the magnetic recording medium substrate has a total light transmittance of 0 to 75% and a surface resistivity of 1&#xd7;10to 1&#xd7;10&#x3a9; on each surface.

In order to provide a film having excellent heat resistance, thermal dimensional stability, and mechanical properties, in particular, a film capable of satisfying required properties, e.g., higher strength in accordance with the reduction in thickness of a base film, improved thermal dimensional stability and mechanical properties in a use environment, and higher heat resistance and improved thermal dimensional stability in accordance with the needs for miniaturization and more functionality in electrical and electronic areas, a thermoplastic resin is allowed to contain transition metal oxide particles, and is formed into a biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film, wherein the melting point of the film is allowed to become higher than the melting point of the thermoplastic resin to be used. Preferably, the difference between a peak temperature (melting point T) of the heat of fusion in the first run of the measurement of the biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and a peak temperature (melting point T) of the heat of fusion in the second run is allowed to satisfy the following Formula.2&#xb0; C.&#x2266;T-T&#x2266;30&#xb0; C. Alternatively, the plane orientation factor of the biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film containing the transition metal oxide particles is controlled at 0.120 or more and less than 0.280.

The object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a polyester film excellent in rigidity, toughness, dimensional stability, electric properties, etc. and less in thickness fluctuation and surface defects, hence very suitable as a film for various industrial materials such as magnetic recording media, capacitors, heat transfer ribbons and thermal mimeographic stencil paper. The first method of the present invention is a method for producing a polyester film, in which a film made of a resin mainly composed of a polyester is simultaneously biaxially stretched by a simultaneously biaxially stretching tenter oven, comprising the step of effecting small-ratio stretching at an area stretching ratio of 1.0005 to 3.0 times three times or more, to achieve a total area stretching ratio of 25 to 150 times, and the second method of the present invention is a method for producing a polyester film, in which a film made of a resin mainly composed of a polyester is stretched using a simultaneously biaxially stretching tenter oven, comprising the step of effecting a series of operation consisting of stretching and subsequent relaxation twice to less than 10000 times, to achieve a total area stretching ratio of 25 to 150 times.

Polyester film and a production method thereof

An object of the present invention is to provide a biaxially oriented high quality polyester film excellent in thermal dimensional stability and clarity and also excellent in productivity, and also to provide a production process thereof. Another object is to provide a biaxially oriented polyester film greatly improved in the practical properties respected in various applications of the polyester film, such as the recording track shift in magnetic recording tape application, curling in magnetic recording card application, dimensional change during process in printing plate application, printing shift in ribbon application, thermostability in capacitor application, and perforation sensitivity and low temperature curling in heat-sensitive mimeograph stencil application. The objects of the present invention can be achieved by a biaxially oriented polyester film, comprising a polyester (A) mainly composed of ethylene terephthalate and a polyether imide (B), having a single glass transition temperature, and having a refractive index of 1.60 to 1.80 at least in either the machine direction or the transverse direction.
