Abnormality can be judged accurately by considering information other than a sensor-detected value. Determination of an abnormality degree, namely an urgency degree, is enabled, and an abnormality can be processed accurately according to the determined result. Only information really useful is given to the side of an administrator, and the communications cost is suppressed. The server unit of the manufacturer ranks the abnormality degree of the construction machine in respective levels of Rank 1 (Normal), Rank 2 (Warning), Rank 3 (Abnormal) and Rank 4 (Emergency) on the basis of the number of occurred times of error codes collected for the unit time.

When it is determined that they should be sent, the type of detected fault (0001 (drop in engine oil pressure)), the values detected ((A) 2, (B) 3, (C) 3, (D) 2) at the time the fault was detected, as well as the sequential values of the operating parameters from within a prescribed period of time (from 10 min. before to 5 min. after) around the time the fault was detected are transmitted to the monitoring station. When it is determined that they should not be sent, on the other hand, the type of detected fault (0001 (drop in engine oil pressure)) and the values detected ((A) 2, (B) 3, (C) 3, (D) 2) at the time the fault was detected are sent to the monitoring station.

Machine fault monitoring apparatus and method

Maintenance due times of components of a machine are determined according to the status of user-performed in-house maintenance and according to the occurrence of abnormalities during machine operation. A subtraction point (20 points) associated with an abnormality (overheating) detected during machine operation is subtracted from the score (80 points) of a corresponding component (engine) in the machine. An addition point (50 points) associated with the type of maintenance (overhaul performed by in-house maintenance) indicated in maintenance information is added to the score (80 points). Thus, at the time where the value resulting from subtractions from and additions to the score for that component (engine) reaches a prescribed value (10 points) indicating maintenance due time, it is determined that the maintenance due time for that component (engine) has been reached.

A compact plasma cutting apparatus suitable for the thermal cutting of concrete structures includes a sealed housing to which a plasma gas is fed under pressure. A metal strip that serves as an outer hollow electrode is bent such that a widthwise section thereof is in circular form, while a metal rod or tube is continuously inserted through a hollow portion of the thus formed outer electrode, with an insulator located between both electrodes. While gas is passed between the inner and outer electrodes, an arc is produced at open ends of both electrodes to generate a plasma gas, which is in turn blown onto a concrete structure for thermal cutting. The formation of both electrodes is effected depending on consumption of the electrodes, thereby carrying out thermal cutting continuously. A high-efficient yet economical cutting method is achieved using the cutting apparatus.

A rotational angle detecting device includes a rotary shaft 1 having an annular projection 1c formed therein so as to extend radially outwardly therefrom, and a housing 2 rotatably supporting the rotary shaft 1. A plurality of rolling contact bearings 6 each having inner and outer races are mounted on the rotary shaft 1 under a pre-loaded condition so as to sandwich the annular projection 1 c between the respective inner races of the rolling contact bearings 6. The assembly is rotatably received inside the housing 2 to permit the rotary shaft 1 to be rotatable about a longitudinal axis thereof. A resistor element 12 is disposed on an inner surface of a housing lid 3 in concentric relation to the longitudinal axis of the rotary shaft 1. An electroconductive brush 5 is secured to an end face of the rotary shaft 1 for rotation together with the rotary shaft 1 and held in sliding contact with the resistor element 12.

A plasma arc can be employed to demolish a concrete structure at a high efficiency, while preventing a secondary problem due to noise, flying dust and chips, and the like. The concrete structure can be demolished by melting a surface of the concrete structure by generating a plasma arc from a plasma torch (15) of a plasma arc generator, mixing thermite powder (T) with a supply gas (Gc) for the plasma torch (15), directing the plasma arc at the surface of the concrete structure, and controlling the rate of supply of the thermite powder (T) to the plasma torch (15) in response to the operation of the plasma arc, including initiating and stopping the supply of the thermite powder (T) to the plasma torch (15) in a manner coordinated with the initiation and stoppage of the plasma arc, thereby controlling the heat generated by the thermite reaction, and melting the surface of the concrete structure. The plasma generator (1) can be provided with a feeder (20) for mixing the thermite powder (T) with the supply gas (Gc), and controller (30) for controlling the rate of supply of the thermite powder (T) or for stopping the supply of the thermite powder (T).
