A light guide includes an incident surface provided at an end portion of the light guide in the longitudinal direction and upon which light emitted by a light source incidents; an emission surface being flat-shaped, the emission surface emitting the light that enters the light guide through the incident surface to an illumination target; a reflective surface having a parabolic shape to generate collimated light directed toward the emission surface by reflecting light from a focal point of the parabolic shape or light from a predetermined area including the focal point, and a light scatterer having a predetermined scattering area to scatter light that entered the light guide through the incident surface and reflect light that entered the light guide through the incident surface in a direction of the reflective surface. The emission surface includes a first emission surface that has a predetermined length from an end portion of the light guide facing the light source along the longitudinal direction, the emission surface being set to an angle at which, among the light scattered by the light scatterer, the collimated light generated by the reflective surface is totally reflected.

Light guide and image scanning device

An image scanning device includes a linear light source to illuminate a linear illumination position of a scan target with light, a lens body, and a sensor. The linear light source includes a light guide, a scatterer, an emitter, a stepped portion, and a light-shielding member. The stepped portion is formed, from the end surface of the transparent body along the main scan direction, on a side of the light guide that is opposite to the illumination position side of the light guide. The light-shielding member covers a portion of the emitter of the light guide, the portion including the end surface of the transparent body, and extends beyond the stepped portion in the main scan direction and has an end portion that is located out of a scan range of the sensor in the main scan direction.

Image scanning device

An illumination device includes a light source and a rod-like light guide extending in a longitudinal direction for guiding incident light to an object to be illuminated. The light source is disposed at an end of the light guide extending in a longitudinal direction. The light guide includes an incident surface at the longitudinal end to receive light emitted from the light source, a flat emission surface to emit light incident on the light guide toward the object to be illuminated, a parabolic reflective surface to reflect, toward the emission surface, light from a focus of the paraboloid shape of the refractive surface or light passing through the focus from a predetermined area, and a light-scattering portion, having a predetermined area, to scatter light entering through the incident surface and reflect the light toward the reflective surface. The light-scattering portion is placed at the focus of the paraboloid shape or at a position where light reflected by the scattering area on the light-scattering portion passes through the focus.

Illumination device and image reading device

A memory stores image data generated by sensors included in an imager and containing a component data piece for each of color components that has undergone A/D conversion by an A/D converter. A width detector detects, based on the image data having undergone image processing by an image processor, the width along the main scanning direction of a duplicate area in which pieces of image data generated by adjoining sensors overlap each other. A displacement detector detects, based on the width of the duplicate area along the main scanning direction, a displacement of a scan target object for each of optical systems included in the imager. A first blur corrector performs blur correction on the component data piece using a point spread function for each of the color components that is dependent on a displacement of the scan target object. An adjuster adjusts, based on a transfer magnification dependent on a displacement of the scan target object, the size of an image for each of the color components indicated by the component data piece. A combiner combines the images by superimposing portions of the component data pieces.

Image reading device

An objective of the present disclosure is to obtain a light guide and an image reading apparatus capable of efficiently irradiating an object to be irradiated (). The light guide and the image reading apparatus include a rod-shaped light guide main body () extending in the longitudinal direction, a first end face () that is an end face of the light guide main body () along the transverse direction, a light scattering pattern () that scatters light that enters from the first end face () and is guided inside the light guide main body (), and a light emission surface portion () formed on the light guide main body along a longitudinal direction, the light emission surface portion () being a surface from which the light scattered at the light scattering pattern () is emitted to outside the light guide main body () after being reflected on a wall surface of the light guide main body (). The light emission surface portion () includes a first light emission surface () that is disposed near the first end face () in the longitudinal direction and a second light emission surface () that is contiguous with the first light emission surface () in the longitudinal direction. A width of the first light emission surface () in the transverse direction is shorter than a width of the second light emission surface () in the transverse direction.

Light guide and image reading apparatus

A plurality of image-forming optical elements are disposed such that a part of a field-of-view region of one image-forming optical element overlaps a part of a field-of-view region of an image-forming optical element disposed adjacent to the one image-forming optical element, each of the image-forming optical elements includes: a lens for collecting light scattered by a reading object; an aperture stop for cutting off some of the light collected by the lens; a phase modulating element for modulating phase of light passing through the aperture stop; and a lens for allowing the light whose phase is modulated by the phase modulating element to form an image on an image-forming surface, and the phase modulating elements are loaded such that resolution characteristics of the phase modulating elements in an arrangement direction of the image-forming optical elements are the same among the image-forming optical elements.

Image reading apparatus

A light guide includes a first exit portion emitting first exiting light, a second exit portion emitting second exiting light in a different direction than the first exiting light, and a reflecting portion reflecting light entering the light guide to each of the first and second exit portions. The first and second exit portions respectively have first and second curved surfaces each having a convex cross section perpendicular to the long axis direction. The second exit portion is connected to the first exit portion in the direction perpendicular to the long axis direction. The reflecting portion is provided, in a plane facing the first exit portion and the second exit portion, at a position shifted in the direction perpendicular to the long axis direction from a position where a normal to the plane passes through a connection portion between the first and second exit portions.

Light guide, light source device, and image reading device

A light guide body () includes a light guide main body (), a band region (), and radial microstructures (). The light guide main body () is columnar, and light enters the light guide main body () from at least one end portion (). The band region () is formed extending in the lengthwise direction of a portion of a circumferential surface of the light guide main body (). The radial microstructures () are arranged in the band region () and are formed as microstructures that each have protruding parts extending radially in at least three directions in a band region portion from a reference point.

Light guide body, light source device and image reading device

A lighting apparatus includes a first illumination portion and a second illumination portion. The first illumination portion and the second illumination portion respectively include a bar-like light guide whose shape of an end face of an end portion includes a part of a circle, an ellipse or a parabola, and light source elements that are provided to face the end face of the end portion of the light guide. In the light guide of the second illumination portion, light enters a determined range in which a focus of the shape of the end face of the end portion of the light guide is included. In the light guide of the first illumination portion, light enters a range that is not the determined range in which the focus of the shape of the end face of the light guide is included.

Lighting apparatus and image reading apparatus

A light guide including a light scattering portion that reflects light guided inside the light guide, and a light emitting surface portion emitting light reflected by the light scattering portion to outside the light guide. A light emitting surface portion includes first and second light emitting surface portions, the first light emitting surface portion has a longer circumferential length than that of the second light emitting surface portion in the transversal cross section, and circumference curvature of the first light emitting surface portion in the transversal cross section increases away from the second light emitting surface portion. A normal line to the light scattering portion, passing through the center of the light scattering portion in the transversal cross section, intersects with the first light emitting surface portion, at a point at a near side to the second light emitting surface portion in the transversal cross section.

An image reader configured to read an image of an object-to-be-read includes: a board, a line sensor assembly including a plurality of photosensitive elements formed on one surface of the board along a main scanning direction, a lens array assembly including a plurality of lenses arrayed along the main scanning direction, and configured to focus the reflected light onto the line sensor assembly, a light shield configured to support a portion of the lens array assembly at the line-sensor-assembly side or to be in contact with the portion of the lens array assembly at the line-sensor-assembly side, and to block light other than the light focused by the lens array assembly, and a transparent member made of transparent material, formed with a retainer space where the lens array assembly and the light shield are retained, and covering a portion of the lens array assembly at the object-to-be-read side and the light shield.

An image sensor and image sensor device include: a lighting portion extending in a main scanning direction and emitting light to the object-to-be-read; a rod lens array for imaging light from the object-to-be-read; and a light receiving portion for converting the light imaged by the rod lens array to an electric signal. The lighting portion emits a normally directed light from the normal direction of the object-to-be-read to irradiate a first irradiation region of the object-to-be-read, and an inclined light inclined by a predetermined angle from the normal direction of the object-to-be-read to irradiate a second irradiation region being apart from the first irradiation region in a sub-scanning direction.

Image sensor device

An image reading device including: concave first lens mirrors that are arranged in an array shape along a main scanning direction and that collimate scattered light reflected by an irradiated object and reflect the scattered light as a substantially parallel bundle of rays that are angled in a sub-scanning direction; planar mirrors that reflect light from the first lens mirrors; apertures that are arranged in an array shape and that allow light from the planar mirrors to pass through by way of openings that are arranged in an array shape and that are light-shielded therearound for selectively allowing light to pass through; concave second lens mirrors that are arranged in an array shape into which light from the apertures is incident and that reflect the light from the apertures as converged light; and light receivers that have light receiving areas on which light from the second lens mirrors is incident and that form images that correspond to light from the openings.
