While a cover moves to a closed position, a second engagement portion contacts a first engagement portion to displace the first engagement portion, and thus a guide portion moves to a guide position. While the cover moves from the closed position to a first open position, the second engagement portion and the first engagement portion are separated, and the guide portion moves from the guide position to an open position.

Sheet guide mechanism and printing apparatus

A simple configuration enables easily changing the open or closed state of multiple suction holes while assuring suction. A shutter drum rotates centered on an axis of rotation extending on a transverse axis, and a suction fan that produces negative pressure inside the shutter drum. When one suction hole on the transverse axis is a first suction hole, and another suction hole adjacent on the transverse axis to the first suction hole is a second suction hole, a first communication path including a suction chamber and through-hole communicates with the first suction hole, and a second communication path including a suction chamber and through-hole communicates with the second suction hole. The shutter drum functions as a shutter that, by rotating, selectively changes the open or closed state of the first and second communication paths.

Liquid ejecting head unit

A printer has a platen top unit fastened above the platen unit. The platen top unit is separate from the platen unit, and has first star wheels and second star wheels disposed on parallel horizontal frame members extending perpendicularly to the media conveyance direction above the platen surface. The first star wheels and second star wheels prevent the continuous paper conveyed over the platen surface from lifting away from the platen surface.

Printer that avoids exposure of a star wheel

The carriage of a line printer has a head unit that supports a printhead, and a carriage frame that supports the head unit movably up and down. When moving the carriage from a standby position to an opposing position, the carriage is moved while the head unit is held at a up position where the gap to the platen unit is a first distance. The head unit is then lowered at the standby position from the up position to a down position where the platen gap is a second distance that is shorter than the first distance.

Line printer and printhead moving method of a line printer

A liquid ejecting apparatus includes: a liquid ejecting head unit which has liquid ejecting heads that eject liquid; an in-head roller which abuts against a landing surface of an ejecting medium; and a frame which pivotally supports the in-head roller. The liquid ejecting head unit is provided to be able to ascend and descend with respect to the frame. In the liquid ejecting head unit, at least two head rows, each of which includes the liquid ejecting heads and a void aligned in a reference direction intersecting a transporting direction of the ejecting medium, are arranged in the transporting direction. The in-head roller is disposed at a position where at least a part of the in-head roller faces the void, in a direction which is orthogonal to the landing surface.
