A heat exchanger with a chamber assembly, having a medium directing assembly disposed within. The medium directing assembly provided with a first and a second medium directing panel member, each respectively a planar panel member having a first side and a second side. A heat exchange medium introduced into the chamber assembly in an initial line of flow is vertically diverted into two flows to impact the first side of the first and the second medium directing panel member separately. Each diverted heat exchange medium is then further diverted into a pair of divergent arcuate lateral flow, wherein each lateral flow is directed to impact the lateral sides of the chamber assembly. On the respective second sides of the first and the second medium directing panel member, laterally diverted heat exchange medium is directed to collide into each other, where the pair of laterally diverted flows are subsequently merged.

Tube and chamber heat exchange apparatus having a medium directing assembly with enhanced medium directing panels

A heat exchanger having a chamber assembly defining a hollow space within, the chamber assembly having an input and a discharge means of a heat exchange medium. Disposed within the chamber assembly is a medium directing assembly. The medium directing assembly defined by a plurality of panel members arranged in a longitudinally extended manner positioned at an acute angle relative to the chamber assembly longitudinal axial characteristics, having an angled lateral edges whereby a first and a second longitudinal ends are provided with wider lateral width, while the medial section of the medium directing assembly is substantially narrower. The medium directed assembly providing a plurality of serially interconnected chambers within the chamber assembly to maximize chamber assembly and heat exchange medium interface, a structured flow path arrangement for the heat exchange medium, as well as means to energize the flow of the heat exchange medium for the desired results.

Tube and chamber type heat exchange apparatus having an enhanced medium directing assembly

A heat exchanger with a plurality of flow path assemblies disposed in a core body, a first and a second core surface of the core body provided with a plurality of throughholes. Each throughhole on the first and the second core surface mated individually with a flow path assembly seat, a coupling means providing independent positioning as well as longitudinal axial orientation means to each of the flow path assembly disposed in the core body, wherein each flow path assembly seat provided on the first core surface engages a first tubular section of a corresponding flow path assembly, while each flow path assembly seat provided on the second core surface engages a second tubular section of a corresponding flow path assembly. Each flow path assembly provided with at least one chamber section, each chamber section having a medium directing component disposed within for a desired medium flow effect.

A heat exchanger for exchanging heat between a first medium and a second medium has a body comprising a pair of header plates, a pair of distribution plates, and a pair of case body lateral panels. Input and output header plates have a plurality of orifices, with a flow path assembly extending between each input header plate orifice and the corresponding output header plate orifice. Each flow path assembly includes at least one chamber assembly, having a corresponding medium directing component, and transports the first medium. Input and output distribution plates have a plurality of orifices. An inlet side tank engages with the input distribution plate, and an outlet side tank engages with the output distribution plate. The second medium flows from the inlet side tank through the input distribution plate orifices, over the flow path assemblies, through the output distribution plate orifices, and into the outlet side tank.

Heat exchanger utilizing flow path assemblies

A heat exchanger having an inlet tube, a chamber section, an outlet tube, and a medium directing member disposed within the chamber section. The medium directing member is provided with a first angled face, a second angled face, a first lateral wall, and a second lateral wall to obtain a desired heat exchange medium flow pattern within the chamber section, which generally comprise of two semi-circular symmetrical flow patterns, along with other flow alterations within the chamber section that facilitate improved heat transfer effectiveness. The medium directing member is provided with a first extension member and a second extension member as a means to couple the medium directing member within the chamber section, to obtain desired heat transfer between the chamber section and the medium directing member, as well as to allow a desired heat exchange medium flow pattern to transpire within the chamber section.

A heat exchanger for exchanging heat between a first medium and a second medium has a body comprising a pair of header plates, a pair of distribution plates, and a pair of case body lateral panels. Input and output header plates have a plurality of orifices, with a flow path assembly extending between each input header plate orifice and the corresponding output header plate orifice. Each flow path assembly includes at least one chamber assembly, having a corresponding medium directing component, disposed between a pair of tubular segments. Input and output distribution plates have a plurality of orifices. A first medium inlet side tank engages with the input header, a first medium output side tank engages with the output header plate, a second medium inlet side tank engages with the input distribution plate, and a second medium output side tank engages with the output distribution plate.

Heat exchanger utilized as an EGR cooler in a gas recirculation system

A heat exchanging device has a main chamber, two sub-chambers, an inlet and an outlet. The sub-chambers extend outwardly from both planar walls of the main chamber. Disposed within main chamber and the sub-chambers is a medium directing insert. The insert has an angled surface on ends facing the inlet and the outlet, first directing the flow of the heat exchange medium into the main chamber, so that the heat exchange medium is dispersed within the main chamber, then directing the heat exchange medium out of the device through the outlet. The medium directing insert is bonded to the lateral walls of the sub-chambers to enhance the structural integrity of the device. The lateral walls of the medium directing insert cooperate with the planar and lateral walls of the main chamber to form channels for directing flow of the heat exchange medium within the device.

Heat exchanger utilizing chambers with sub-chambers having respective medium directing inserts coupled therein

A heat exchanger has a plurality of chamber units. The chamber units include an inlet orifice, an outlet orifice, and a plurality of walls defining a chamber interior. The inlet receives a heat exchange medium flowing in a first flow direction in an initial line of flow. Disposed within the chamber interior is a medium directing member, having an inclined surface, which diverts the heat exchange medium from the initial flow direction so that it disperses within the chamber interior in at least two distinct flow patterns. Directional flow of the medium may be facilitated by two medium directing channels disposed within one or more of the chamber walls. Protrusion members on one or more chamber walls enhance dispersion of the heat exchange medium, causing a turbulent flow pattern within the chamber interior. The heat exchange medium exits the chamber, via the outlet, in the initial line of flow. The chambers are interconnected to form assemblies. Plural assemblies are arranged between manifolds to complete the heat exchanger.

A heat exchanging device includes first and second disk members coupled together to form a disk unit having a chamber. The first disk member has an inlet and the second disk member has an outlet. At least one of the disk members has first and second connecting members coupled to the other disk member. The connecting members are arranged on opposite sides of a line extending axially through the inlet and outlet to define therebetween an inlet flow path above the line and outlet flow path below the line. A medium directing member is disposed within the disk unit. The medium directing member, the first and second connecting members and the chamber are arranged such that heat exchange media is directed to flow from the inlet, through the inlet flow path, through the chamber, through the outlet flow path, and into the outlet.

Heat exchanging apparatus and method of making same

A heat exchanging device includes first and second disk members coupled together to form a disk unit having a chamber. The first disk member has an inlet and the second disk member has an outlet. A medium directing member is disposed within the disk unit. A first end of the medium directing member has a first channel formed at an angle to direct heat exchange media flowing in from the inlet to the chamber, and a second end of the medium directing member has a second channel formed at an angle to direct the heat exchange media out of the chamber through the outlet. A plurality of disk units are coupled together in a row. Multiple rows of the heat exchanging devices may be disposed between manifolds.

A heat exchange chamber includes an inlet, an outlet and a plurality of walls defining a chamber interior. The inlet receives a heat exchange medium flowing in a first flow direction in an initial line of flow. Disposed within the chamber interior is a medium directing member, having an inclined surface, which diverts the medium from the initial flow direction so that it disperses within the chamber interior. The medium exits the chamber, via the outlet, in the initial line of flow. The chambers are interconnected by tubes to form assemblies. Plural sets of chamber and tube assemblies are arranged between manifolds to provide a heat exchanger.
