A game apparatus for causing a player's character controlled by a player to fight against an enemy character within a predetermined game space. The game apparatus includes a storage section for storing data of items held by the respective characters, an item computing section and a character reviving section for reviving a defeated character within the game space under a predetermined condition. The item computing section selects prize items from items held by the defeated character in accordance with a predetermined rule and displays the prize items on a display means. The item computing section adds the prize items to items held by a character who acquires said prize item, subtracts the prize items from items held by the defeated character in accordance with a predetermined rule, and updating the data of items in the storage section according to the results of addition and subtraction.

Video game apparatus and image synthesizing method thereof

An image photographed by a CCD camera is captured, and this captured image is mapped onto a marker object. The perspective of the captured image is modified in accordance with whether the marker object is far away or near. When the marker object is far away, the perspective is modified to give the impression that it is nearer to the viewer than its actual position. The perspective is modified by varying the scaling factor S of the marker object. When the marker object is behind an obscuring object, an image is generated to make it appear as if the marker object is in front of the marker object. The marker object can be made to appear as if in front of the obscuring object, by increasing the priority that is assigned to the marker object for hidden-surface removal.

A game system allows a player to move a character within a game space while the player manipulates a shooting device. The game system comprises a mobile mount that can be moved at least in the forward and backward, and rightward and leftward directions, and a gun rotatably mounted on the mount. The game system is responsive to the movement of the mobile mount for moving a character object in the forward and backward, and rightward and leftward directions within the game space, changing the facing direction of the character object depending on the rotational movement of the gun, and displaying a game image representing these actions on a display.
