A female coupling member is provided which includes locking members () for securing the female coupling member to a male coupling member () inserted into a receiving portion () thereof. The receiving portion has an inner surface (-) that slidingly engages a forward end outer surface (-) of the male member () when the male member is inserted into the receiving portion () and before it reaches a position where the male and female members are secured to one another by the locking members (). The receiving portion further has a forward end inner surface (-()) that slidingly engages an outer surface (-) of the male member that is more rearward of the forward end outer surface (-) than the engaging portion (-) of the male member when the inward inner surface slidingly engages the forward end outer surface (-) of the male coupling member.

Female coupling member of pipe coupling

There is disclosed a socket for a pipe coupling, comprising a hollow cylindrical socket body including a plug insertion port, a radially movable locking element to lock a plug in the plug insertion port, and a sleeve attached to the socket body so as to be movable forwards/backwards and can operate the locking element. A valve body including a channel hole and purge hole is fixed in the socket body, and a cylindrical seal member rotatable between a first position and a second position is attached between the socket body and valve body. The seal member opens the channel hole and closes the purge hole in the first position, and vice versa in the second position. The seal member is connected to a sleeve for valve opening/closing operation rotatably attached to the socket body by a connection pin inserted through a circumferential groove in the socket body.

Socket for pipe coupling

This invention provides a pipe coupling used for changing oil in an engine oil pan with an oil drain port. A drain plug has a drain plug main body having one end to be attached to the oil drain port of the engine oil pan, a recess formed in its outer surface of the other end projecting outward from the oil pan, and an axial oil flow path extending in an axial direction, a valve holder to be arranged in the plug main body, and a valve body held by the valve holder and capable of closing the flow path. A socket connectable to the drain plug has a socket main body to be mounted on the drain plug, a seal member for engaging with the valve holder in a fluid tight manner when the socket main body is mounted on the other end of the drain plug, a plurality of locking members which can engage with the plug main body when one end of the socket main body is mounted on the other end of the drain plug, and a slide sleeve mounted on the outer surface of the socket main body and capable of holding the locking member in an engaging state. The valve body opens the oil flow path when one end of the socket main body is mounted on the other end of the drain plug.

A pipe coupling for a female screw to be connected to a female screw port formed in a fluid device, comprising a cylindrical main body. The main body includes a plurality of arm members having a male crew portion at a distal end to be connected to the female screw port. Also, the main body comprises a sliding member that slides from a close to an open position with respect to the arms members. The main body is provided with a lock member for stopping the movement of the sliding member.

A pipe coupling for the union of a corrugated pipe therewith is formed of a pipe coupling proper and a lock cylinder for fixing a corrugated pipe. The lock cylinder is helically joined to the inner surface of the leading part of the pipe coupling proper and fixes the corrugated pipe by rotationally closing the lock cylinder helically tacked to the pipe coupling proper, and at the same time seals the pipe coupling proper by pressing the leading terminal part of the lock cylinder against a seal ring attached fast to the interior of the pipe coupling proper, enabling the corrugated pipe to be infallibly locked and sealed owing to the provision of a spacer adapted to preset and keep a closing distance for the lock cylinder. The spacer is detachably attached to the periphery of the pipe coupling proper.

A joint for connecting a corrugated pipe to another member includes a cylindrical body having an annular step portion formed in its inner part and adapted to be brought into contact with a front end of a corrugated pipe; a chuck having an annular body which includes a forward end part of an inner diameter substantially equal to or slightly smaller than an outer diameter of the corrugated pipe and which exhibits elasticity by which the chuck can contract and expand in radially inner and outer directions, an engaging portion formed on an inner periphery of its forward end part for engaging an outer periphery of the corrugated pipe, and a locking portion formed on an inner periphery of its rearward end part, the chuck being engaged with the outer periphery of the corrugated pipe in the cylindrical body so as to be capable of moving the corrugated pipe into the cylindrical body integrally with the chuck; and a push cylinder having a counterpart locking portion formed on an outer periphery of its forward end part and adapted to be locked to the locking portion formed on the rearward end part of the chuck, the push cylinder being slidably fitted to an inner periphery of an end portion of the cylindrical body, the push cylinder being for pushing the chuck into the cylindrical body when the push cylinder is advanced.

A pipe coupling for a corrugated pipe, comprises a pipe coupling main body including a cylindircal portion having a small-diameter through hole, a pipe coupling main cylindrical portion having a large-diameter through hole, a connecting stepped portion formed between the small- and large-diameter through holes and having a circumferential groove, a stopper formed in the connecting stepped portion, for locking an end portion of a corrugated pipe, and a seal ring fitted in the circumferential groove, an inner cylinder including a through hole having a diameter substantially equal to an outer diameter of the corrugated pipe and an annular groove having a tapered surface and formed in an inner wall of a deep portion of the through hole, the inner cylinder being slidably and rotatably fitted in the large-diameter through hole of the pipe coupling main body, and a metal ring arranged in the circumferential groove of the inner cylinder and expandable in a circumferential direction thereof.

A socket of a tube coupler is manufactured in the following steps: A rectangular steel plate is formed with pin-guiding lock grooves which are arranged at equal longitudinal intervals after the plate has been wound. The plate is wound as a single layer along the longitudinal direction thereof to form a tubular body. When the tubular body is used as a connector between a socket main cylinder and a socket adapter and when the socket adapter is fitted closely in one end portion of the tubular body, the other end portion of the tubular body is fixedly fitted in the free end portion of the socket adapter. Thereafter, the pins are fixed to the outer periphery of the socket main cylinder, through the respective lock grooves, so that a socket is manufactured. When, on the other hand, the tubular member is used as a socket main cylinder, the lock grooves are formed so that one end of each thereof opens at one end of the socket main cylinder, and a socket adapter is connected to the other end of the socket main cylinder to form a socket. A plug having the pins is guided by the lock grooves to be inserted into the socket.

Method of manufacturing a socket of a tube coupler

A fluid coupling for a corrugated pipe, comprising a coupling body having an axial through hole including a pipe insertion portion and a fluid passage portion, metallic seal means arranged on the fluid passage side of the pipe insertion portion, for sealing an end portion of a corrugated pipe pressed against the same, clamp means having at least three segments arranged in the circumferential direction and adapted to tightly hold the peripheral portion of the corrugated pipe inserted in the insertion portion, and retaining means for axially and immovably retaining the clamp means so that the end portion of the corrugated pipe is pressed against the seal means, to be sealed thereby.

A fluid coupling comprising a coupling body having a cylindrical outer peripheral surface, clamp means for radially and inwardly clamping the outer peripheral surface of an end portion of a pipe, the clamp means beig axially immovable with respect to the pipe, a sleeve having engaging means and slidably fitted on the cylindrical outer peripheral surface of the coupling body, the engaging means being capable of axially moving the clamp means, a spiral guide groove formed on one of the sleeve and the outer peripheral surface of the coupling body, a pin member formed on the other of the sleeve and the outer peripheral surface of the coupling body and slidable along the guide groove, and means for preventing the sleeve and the coupling body from rotating relative to each other at a position reached when the sleeve is moved axially a predetermined distance, as the pin member is guided along the guide groove.

A fluid coupling for a corrugated pipe, comprising a coupling body having an axial through hole and a cylindrical outer peripheral surface, metallic seal means arranged at a pipe insertion portion of the axial through hole, for sealing an end portion of a corrugated pipe, a first sleeve having a first end portion, slidably mounted on the outer peripheral surface of the coupling body and urged axially outward, ring-shaped engaging members adjoining the first end portion of the sleeve and reducible in diameter, and retaining means surrounding the sleeve and the engaging members so as to be movable relative to the coupling body and the sleeve, the retaining means being adapted to reduce the diameter of the engaging members so that the engaging members are forced into root portions of the corrugated pipe, whereby the engaging members are held in a predetermined axial position.

A fluid coupling for a corrugated pipe, comprising a coupling body having a large-diameter portion and a small-diameter portion through which the corrugated pipe can be passed, metallic seal means arranged at the small-diameter portion, for sealing an end portion of a corrugated pipe pressed against the same, a ring-shaped engaging member disposed in the large-diameter portion and having its inside diameter reducible to a size smaller than the diameter of the top of corrugation of the corrugated pipe, and retaining means having an outside diameter small enough to be inserted into the small-diameter portion, an inside diameter large enough to be penetrated by the corrugated pipe, and a first end portion capable of engaging the engaging member, the retaining means being adapted to press the end portion of the corrugated pipe against the seal means, while transferring the elastic member from the large-diameter portion to the small-diameter portion, thereby holding the engaging member in a predetermined axial position such that the engaging member is located in a root portion of the corrugated pipe.
