A method of manufacturing a thermoelectric conversion material includes a sintering step. In the sintering step, a sintered body of a sintered material () is obtained by applying a voltage to a conductive mold () in a first direction so as to cause energization under the condition in which an insulating layer () is disposed in at least a portion between an inner wall () of the mold () and the sintered material () and the insulating layer () keeps having insulating properties. Here, the sintered body is a thermoelectric conversion substance.

Method of manufacturing thermoelectric conversion material

A thermoelectric conversion material has a composition represented by General Formula LRTMSb. Here, L includes at least one element selected from rare earth elements. R includes two or more elements selected from the group consisting of alkali metal elements, alkali earth metal elements, Group 4 elements, and Group 13 elements. T includes at least one element selected from Fe and Co. M includes at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ru, Os, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, and Au. In addition, 0.50&#x2264;k&#x2264;1.00, 0.1&#x2264;r&#x2264;0.5, 3.0&#x2264;t&#x2212;m&#x2264;5.0, 0&#x2264;m&#x2264;0.5, 10.0&#x2264;x&#x2264;11.5, and x/t&#x3c;3.0 are satisfied.

Thermoelectric conversion material

Provided is a thermoelectric conversion material including a plurality of kinds of phases including a first phase and a second phase which have elemental compositions different from each other. The first phase and the second phase have a skutterudite structure.
