In an electron gun assembly, electron beams emitted from cathodes are focused in first cross-over and accelerated and controlled by grids along three axes arranged in-line. The controlled electron beams are weakly converged by unipotential lenses and are converged in a vertical plane by a common single electron lens having a lens power which is varied in accordance with a horizontal or vertical deflection of the electron beams. The converged electron beams form second cross-over on the axes which are shifted along the axes are diverged from the second cross-overs. The diverged electron beams are further focused and converged onto a screen by a main lens.

Color cathode-ray tube apparatus

A deflecting unit of a color cathode ray tube is constituted by a main deflecting section whose deflecting center is located on a phosphor screen side from an optimal deflecting center of the color cathode ray tube and at least one sub deflecting section whose deflecting center is located on an electron gun assembly side from the optimal deflecting center of the color cathode ray tube.

Color cathode ray tube apparatus

In a color cathode ray tube apparatus of this invention, an electron beam forming unit of an electron gun outputs electron beams to have an interval of 3.5 to 6.0 mm between adjacent beams, and a ratio of a neck inner diameter to the interval between the adjacent electron beams is 5.1 or more. The main lens unit of the electron gun has a large-aperture electron lens formed by a substantially cylindrical first electrode for allowing three electron beams to pass therethrough, and a substantially cylindrical second electrode in which most of the first electrode is arranged.

A color cathode ray tube apparatus is provided with an electron gun which has a common large-aperture electron lens on which three electron beams are incident. Since the electron gun has individual electron lenses for individual electron beams, the electron beams can be properly converged and focused on a screen. Thus, the apparatus enjoys a satisfactory picture characteristic.

In a color cathode ray tube apparatus of this invention, if an outer diameter of a neck having a cylindrical shape is represented by D.sub.N and an interval of adjacent electron beams at a screen-side end portion of an electron gun is represented by Sg, a value D.sub.N /Sg is 8.0 or more. A deflection means has a saddle-type horizontal deflection coil for deflecting electron beams in an in-line direction. If the length of the deflection means in a direction of the tube axis is represented by l.sub.H all, l.sub.H all is 90 mm or more.

An electron gun for color-picture tube device comprises a final accelerating electrode and a focusing electrode divided into plural electrode units in the axial direction of the tube. A first focusing electrode unit adjacent to the final accelerating electrode is connected to a second focusing electrode unit adjacent to the first focusing electrode unit through a resistor. A focusing voltage being change in synchronous with the deflection of an electron beam is applied to the first focusing electrode unit. The resistor is used for removing the a.c. components from the focusing voltage. Then, the removed focusing voltage is applied to the second focusing electrode. For the electron beam deflected on the peripheral part of the screen, a quadrupole lens is formed. On the first focusing electrode unit side opposite to the second focusing electrode unit are formed first electron beam path holes whose major axes extend horizontally. On the second focusing electrode unit side opposite to the first focusing electrode unit are formed second electron beam path holes whose major axes extend vertically. As a result, the quadrupole lens serves to suppress a halo portion.

Electron gun for color-picture tube device

In an electron gun assembly, three electron beams emitted from cathodes are passed through an electrode arrangement in which two intermediate electrodes are arranged between focusing are accelerating electrodes. A focusing voltage which is varied depending on an deflection of the electron beam is applied to the focusing electrode and an accelerating voltage is applied to the accelerating electrode. A resistor is connected between the accelerating electrode and the earth through a variable resistor and intermediate points of the resistor are connected to the intermediate electrodes. Thus, convergent and divergent lenses are formed between the focusing electrode and the intermediate electrode and between the accelerating electrode and the intermediate electrode. The lens powers of the convergent and divergent lenses are varied in accordance with the adjustment of the variable resistor.

Electron gun assembly for color cathode ray tube apparatus

In a color cathode ray apparatus, three electron beams emitted from electron gun assembly are correctly converged on a peripheral region of a peripheral region of a phosphor screen and are weakly converged on a center region of the phosphor screen by static convergence means. The electron beams are also converged by dynamic convergence means so as to correct the weak convergence in accordance with a horizontal deflection of the electron beams. Thus, the electron beams can be correctly converged all over the phosphor screen.

A color picture tube apparatus comprises an envelope including a funnel, a face plate and a neck, a phosphor screen on an inner surface of the face plate, an electron gun structure in the neck of the envelope for generating at least one electron beam, resistor means for supplying predetermined voltage to the electron gun structure, and deflection means for generating non-uniform deflection magnetic field to deflect the electron beam. The electron gun structure includes a focusing electrode including first means for generating an asymmetric converging electric field near the focusing electrode having a relative strong converging action in one direction compared with the converging action in another direction perpendicular to the one direction, an accelerating electrode including second means for generating an asymmetric diverging electric field near the accelerating electrode having a relative strong diverging action in the one direction compared with the diverging action in the other direction, and at least one intermediate electrode between the focusing electrode and the accelerating electrode for separating the converging electric field from the diverging electric field.

Electron gun structure for a color picture tube apparatus

In a color cathode-ray apparatus, electron beams emitted from an electron gun assembly are deflected along horizontal and vertical axes by horizontal and vertical deflecting units. The horizontal deflecting unit includes first and second horizontal deflecting yokes which are located such that the center of the second horizontal deflecting yoke is defined between the center of the first horizontal deflecting yoke and the electron gun assembly. First and second horizontal deflection currents are supplied to the first and second horizontal deflecting yokes and are changed in different manners, in accordance with a degree to which the electron beams are to be deflected, and the first and seocnd deflection yokes generate pincushion and barrel magnetic fields, respectively.

Color cathode-ray apparatus having an improved deflection unit

In a color cathode ray tube, electron beams generated from an electron gun assembly of an in-line type are deflected by horizontal and vertical deflection magnetic fields. The horizontal deflection magnetic field includes a main magnetic field and an auxiliary magnetic field. The main magnetic field has a barrel-shaped distribution and is substantially symmetrically formed about a Y-Z plane and the auxiliary magnetic field is substantially antisymmetric about the Y-Z plane.

Cathode ray tube apparatus with improved deflection unit

In a color cathode ray tube, an in-line electron gun assembly is located in the neck of a vacuum envelope and vertical and horizontal magnetic coils are arranged on the outer surface of the funnel of the vacuum envelope. The vertical magnetic coil produces a vertical magnetic field which has an asymmetrical distribution relative to a horizontal axis within a deflection plane. The asymmetrical distribution is determined as a function of the screen position on which electron beams deflected from the horizontal axis of the screen land. The electron beams are thus subjected to a negative astigmatism by the vertical deflection magnetic field.

Color cathode ray tube with deflection means

Three electron beams are generated so that they are arranged in-line in a horizontal plane to impinge through a shadow mask on a phosphor screen consisting of red, green and blue phosphors. These beams are generated practically parallel. In the deflection device that deflects the electron beams, the horizontal deflection magnetic field is made uniform and the vertical deflection magnetic field is made barrel shaped. The half-width a of the magnetic flux distribution on the tube axis of the horizontal deflection magnetic field is set so that a/A=0.1 to 0.4, where A is the distance from the center of the magnetic flux density distribution to the phosphor screen surface. It is arranged that the picture signals modulating the respective beams are not mutually time-wise offset since the three electron beams are parallel. Thus little electron beam spot distortion is obtained over the whole picture screen.

Color cathode ray tube device

A resistor assembly built into an electron tube, comprising a resistor element having at least one hole, an inner connector fitted in the hole, and an outer connector which formed integrally with the inner connector, or fixed thereto. The inner connector is electrically connected to the resistor element. The outer connector is secured and electrically connected to a part in the electron tube, whereby the resistor element is electrically connected to said part.

Resistor assembly

A resistor is provided which comprises an insulation substrate, a resistive layer prepared from inorganic materials and printed on the insulation substrate, and an insulation layer prepared from borosilicate lead glass and overcoated on the resistive layer. The insulation layer contains an oxide of at least one transition metal selected from the group consisting of iron, nickel, chromium, cobalt, zinc, copper, zirconium, and cadmium. In the course of operation, the resistor of the present invention exhibits no changes in its resistance, irrespective of the length of time it may be operated.
