To provide a method for performing a cross-coupling reaction of a Grignard compound with an alkyl halide simply, efficiently and in high yield, a method for obtaining a &#x3c9;-bromo long chain carboxylic acid simply and efficiently using an easily obtainable raw material and a method for producing a useful branched fatty acid simply and efficiently  [R: an alkyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, R: an alkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms with a carboxyl group and X and X': a halogen atom]  [n: an integer of 9 to 17]  [n: an integer of 9 to 17, R: a branched alkyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms and X: a halogen atom].

A composition for external skin care comprising an amine derivative represented by the following formula (1), ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a linear, branched, or cyclic saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 4-40 carbon atoms, and R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, and R.sup.6 are individually a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1-10 carbon atoms, which may be substituted or unsubstituted by 1 or more hydroxy groups; or an acid addition salt thereof, in an amount from 0.0001 to less than 0.1% by weight; and a method of curing wrinkles and keratinization of the skin characterized by applying said amine derivative or its salt to the skin.

Composition for external skin care

Amino derivatives represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## and external skin care preparations containing such an amide derivative, are useful for preventing or curing skin roughness. Intermediates useful for the preparation of such amides are also disclosed.
