A robot system according to an embodiment includes an arm mechanism that is articulated, a parallel link mechanism, an end effector, a detector, and a control device. The parallel link mechanism includes a fixed part mounted to a distal part of the arm mechanism, and a movable part that is mounted to the fixed part via multiple parallel links and is movable with respect to the fixed part. The end effector is mounted to the movable part. The detector is provided for detecting a position or orientation of a control point. The control device controls the arm mechanism and the parallel link mechanism. The control device performs a first operation of setting a posture of the control point to a first posture, and a second operation of setting the posture of the control point to a task posture in which the end effector performs a task.

According to one embodiment, a holding device includes: holding parts; a holding part opening/closing part that opens and closes the holding parts; a first sensor that detects a load received by the holding part; and a controller that controls an operation of the holding part. At least one of the plurality of holding parts includes a claw member displaceable along a length direction of the holding part, a second sensor that detects a displacement amount of the claw member, and a reaction force applying part that applies a reaction force corresponding to the displacement amount of the claw member to the claw member. According to one embodiment, a suction gripping device includes a pad mechanism mounted to a base. The pad mechanism includes a sliding part and a first guide. The sliding part includes a suction pad and a pipe and is slidable in a first direction with respect to the base. The suction pad attaches to a workpiece and is connected to the pipe at one end of the pipe. The first guide guides a sliding direction of the pipe to be in the first direction. The first guide is fixed with respect to the base. An attachment surface of the suction pad contacts a first surface of a workpiece and is tiltable due to a weight of the sliding part when gripping the workpiece. The first surface crosses a sliding direction of the sliding part.
