An image processing device receives a captured image as input from an image capturing device installed in a conveying mechanism that conveys and tests works. The image processing device causes the image capturing device to capture images a plurality of times at a predetermined time interval. Based on the position of the work detected from the captured image output from the image capturing device by capturing the images at a predetermined time interval and the target position set by the user's operation, the image processing device derives the delay time required for capturing the image at the timing when the work is positioned near the target position, and sets the derived delay time for the image capturing timing of the image capturing device.

A determination target region includes a combination of a red gray image, a green gray image, and a blue gray image. A CPU part transforms a three gray value matrixes to a single first data array uniquely associated with a pixel position in the determination target region. The CPU part calculates a normalized correlation value with a single second data array transformed from a model image according to the same predetermined rule, and determines whether or not a match is found with the model image according to whether or not the normalized correlation value exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

Focusing on pixels that constitute a color image sequentially, color differences Cx and Cy in X and Y directions are found using image data in a mask centering around the focal pixel. For the pixel in which the sum of the color differences is not less than a predetermined value, a color difference is found in each of directions Eand Ethat pass through the pixel and correspond to the first quadrant and the second quadrant in the X-Y coordinate system, and it is determined that the color change is generated in the direction having the larger color difference. Then, based on the determination result and the values of the color differences Cx and Cy, an angle (edge code) showing the direction of the color change is calculated.

In one embodiment, a system for processing an image receives color information including three variables representing a color of each of a plurality of pixels which constitute the image. The system derives a target characteristic value corresponding to a target pixel among the plurality of pixels based on the three variables of the target pixel. The system derives proximate characteristic values corresponding to a plurality of proximate pixels which are proximate to the target pixel. The system replaces the three variables of the target pixel with the three variables of one of the proximate pixels depending on a relationship between the target characteristic value and the proximate characteristic values.

Sensor system

A sensor controller is disclosed which transmits large-capacity data such as waveform data and image data within a short time (in rapid cycles, for example) and makes possible various collaborative operations using the transmitted data. A control unit includes a programmable logic circuit and a CPU to control the operation of the sensor controller. A unit connector can be used to connect other sensor controllers. An inter-unit path constitutes a signal transmission path between the control unit and the unit connector and includes a sensing data transmission path between the programmable logic circuit and the unit connector. In the case where another sensor controller is connected to the unit connector, the sensing data can be transmitted between the programmable logic circuit of the local sensor controller and the programmable logic circuit of the particular another sensor controller.
