An internal combustion engine is mounted for power generation in a series hybrid vehicle and has an exhaust system with an upstream-side catalytic converter and a downstream-side catalytic converter. After starting of the internal combustion engine, the operation of the internal combustion engine is continued, without stopping the internal combustion engine even when the power generation request ceases, until completion of the warm-up of both of the upstream-side catalytic converter and the downstream-side catalytic converter. The internal combustion engine is operated with ignition timing retardation during a first period from the starting of the internal combustion engine to the completion of the warm-up of the upstream-side catalytic converter. During a second period from the completion of the warm-up of the upstream-side catalytic converter to the completion of the warm-up of the downstream-side catalytic converter, the internal combustion engine is operated without ignition timing retardation.

Catalyst warm-up control method for internal combustion engine, and catalyst warm-up control device

Set a lower limit for an engine revolution speed when an accelerator is off while a temperature of the gasoline particulate filter is equal to or lower than a predetermined first temperature or equal to or higher than a predetermined second temperature, the predetermined second temperature being higher than the predetermined first temperature, and continue the lower limit setting for the engine revolution speed until the accelerator becomes on when the temperature of the gasoline particulate filter increases over the predetermined first temperature from the predetermined first temperature or lower or decreases below the predetermined second temperature from the predetermined second temperature or higher after the lower limit for the engine revolution speed is set.

Exhaust particulates are collected by a GPF(gasoline particulate filter) device. EGR control is executed, and exhaust gas flowing through an exhaust passage upstream of the GPF device is introduced into an intake passage via an EGR passage. In the EGR control, an opening area of the EGR passage is controlled to reduce the opening area of the EGR passage according to an operating state of the engine as a particulate deposition amount in the GPF device is increased.

A prescribed air-fuel ratio feedback control region for performing feedback-control of air-fuel ratio has therein: a first region where fuel is injected, during one combustion cycle, only from a first fuel injection valve injecting fuel directly into a cylinder; and a second region where fuel is injected, during one combustion cycle, from both of the first fuel injection valve and a second fuel injection valve injecting fuel into an air-intake passage. A second region is configured such that an amount of fuel injected from the first fuel injection valve and an amount of fuel injected from the second fuel injection valve remain at a given constant ratio regardless of operating status. A diagnosis on the first and second fuel injection valves is performed by using a first air-fuel ratio learning value learned in the first region and a second air-fuel ratio learning value learned in the second region.

A direct-injection internal combustion engine is controlled such that an injection count of multiple-stage injection is switched according to an operating region, and the multiple-stage injection is performed. The multiple-stage injection divides fuel into multiple times in one combustion cycle, and injects the fuel. Fuel vapor generated in a fuel tank as evaporated fuel is supplied to the internal combustion engine. An operating region in which the injection count of the multiple-stage injection is large is controlled to be narrower when an amount of the evaporated fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine is large, compared with a case of the amount of the evaporated fuel being not large.

An engine controller controls a direct fuel-injection, spark ignition engine including a fuel injection valve configured to directly inject a fuel into a cylinder, and an ignition plug that spark-ignites a mixture in the cylinder. The engine controller is provided with an acceleration request sensor configured to detect an acceleration request of a driver, and when the acceleration request occurs and a top surface temperature of a piston in the cylinder is lower than a predetermined temperature, the engine controller retards an ignition timing so that a period of time until a flame after the ignition reaches the piston top surface is extended.

An engine control device controls a cylinder direct fuel injection type spark ignition engine provided with a fuel injection valve configured to directly inject fuel into a cylinder and an ignition plug configured to perform spark ignition for a gas mixture inside the cylinder. The engine control device executes a catalyst warm-up operation for retarding an ignition timing, during a compression stroke of the fuel injection timing, in a case where it is necessary to warm up an exhaust gas purifying catalyst inserted into an exhaust passage. An object of a control method to control a direct injection internal combustion engine that directly injects fuel in a cylinder is to reduce an increase in PN caused by attachment of the fuel to a fuel injection valve distal end. The control method cools the fuel before a fuel temperature when the fuel passes through an injection hole on a fuel injection valve reaches a temperature at which an amount of attached fuel to the fuel injection valve distal end increases.

Control method and control device of direct injection internal combustion engine

An engine control device controls a cylinder direct fuel injection type spark ignition engine provided with a fuel injection valve configured to directly inject fuel to a cylinder and an ignition plug configured to perform spark ignition for a gas mixture inside the cylinder. In a case where it is necessary to warm up an exhaust gas purifying catalyst disposed in an exhaust passage, the engine control device executes a catalyst warm-up operation in which a fuel is injected at a timing during the compression stroke, and at a timing when the fuel spray colliding with the piston crown surface moves toward the ignition plug along the shape of the piston crown surface, and in which the ignition timing is after compression top dead center. The engine control device advances the fuel injection timing in accordance with an increase in an estimation amount of a liquid fuel remaining on the top surface of the piston during execution of the catalyst warm-up operation.

An engine controller controls a direct fuel-injection engine including a fuel injection valve for directly injecting a fuel into a cylinder and a valve overlap period adjusting mechanism for adjusting a valve overlap period between an open period of an intake valve and an open period of an exhaust valve. The engine controller is provided with an acceleration request sensor for detecting an acceleration request of a driver, and when the acceleration request occurs and a top surface temperature of a piston in the cylinder is lower than a predetermined temperature, the engine controller extends the valve overlap period between the open period of the intake valve and the open period of the exhaust valve, ranging before and after an exhaust top dead center.

An upper-limit threshold value and a lower-limit threshold value of a fore-and-aft differential pressure of an EGR control valve is calculated based on an intake-air quantity detected by an airflow meter. An actual fore-and-aft differential pressure of the EGR control valve is calculated from detected values of an upstream-side pressure sensor and a downstream-side pressure sensor. Then, these threshold values are compared with the actual fore-and-aft differential pressure, and when the actual fore-and-aft differential pressure exceeds the upper-limit threshold value or when the actual fore-and-aft differential pressure is less than the lower-limit threshold value, it is determined that the pressure loss of an intake and exhaust system has changed. If it is determined that the pressure loss of an intake and exhaust system has changed, EGR is inhibited, and if not so, EGR is permitted to be performed. These threshold values are varied depending on a target EGR rate.

There is provided a control device of an engine that includes a turbo-supercharger and a variable valve mechanism, the control device including: a valve timing change means; an ignition timing change means; a fuel injection amount change means; an acceleration request detection means; a supercharging pressure detection means; and an acceleration control means that corrects, when the acceleration request is detected, retarding of ignition timing in a low supercharging region where the supercharging pressure is lower than a predetermined value, that completes the correction of the retarding of the ignition timing in a high supercharging region where the supercharging pressure is equal to or higher than the predetermined value to provide a valve overlap and that changes the fuel injection amount such that an air-fuel ratio at which a mixture air of a scavenging gas and an exhaust gas is easily burned within an exhaust passage is provided.

An exhaust gas recirculation device for an internal combustion engine having a supercharger has an intake air passage that intakes intake air for the internal combustion engine, an exhaust passage that carries away exhaust air from the internal combustion engine, an exhaust gas recirculation passage connected to the intake air passage, and an exhaust gas recirculation valve interposed within the exhaust gas recirculation passage. The exhaust gas recirculation passage recirculates a part of the exhaust gas based on an openness of the exhaust gas recirculation valve to control an amount of exhaust recirculation introduced into the intake air passage. A first end of the exhaust gas recirculation passage is connected to the intake air passage upstream of a compressor of the supercharger. A second end of the exhaust gas recirculation passage is connected to the exhaust passage downstream of a turbine of the supercharger.
