It is aimed to provide a connector capable of enhancing the reliability of rattling prevention. A front member () is mounted on a front surface side of a housing main body (). The front member () includes a straight wall () configured to face an erroneous connection preventing surface () of a mating housing () when a housing () is in a proper connection posture with respect to the mating housing (). A rattling preventing portion () projects on the straight wall () and is configured to suppress rattling between the two housings () by contacting an inner surface of a receptacle () and a curved wall () arranged more outward than the rattling preventing portion () when viewed from front and configured to regulate forward detachment of a seal () with the front member () mounted on the housing main body ().

Connector

A terminal fitting () includes a tubular connecting portion () into which a male tab () is to be inserted. A plate-shaped resiliently deflectable contact () is formed separately from the connecting portion () and extends in a front-back direction in the connecting portion () for contacting the male tab () inserted into the connecting portion (). The connecting portion () includes locks () for locking the resilient contact () to the connecting portion (). A support () as a deflection supporting point of the resilient contact () is provided on a rear end of the resilient contact portion (). The support () is located behind the front ends of receiving portions () of the resilient contact () to be locked by the locks ().

Terminal fitting

A male terminal () is inserted into a tubular main body () and a resilient contact piece () separate from the main body () is deflectably arranged in the main body (). The main body () includes crimping pieces () to be crimped and fixed to crimping regions () of the resilient contact piece (). Protrusions () which bite into mating sides at the time of crimping are provided on crimping surfaces () along which the crimping pieces () and the crimping regions () are crimped to each other.

A terminal fitting () includes a tubular connecting portion () and a resilient contact () in the form of a plate that is deflectably arranged in the connecting portion () and that resiliently contacts a male tab () inserted into the connecting portion (). A contact () is provided in a range from a contact start position () with the male tab () to a contact end position () inside the resilient contact () in a plate width direction. Curved portions () recessed toward a center in the plate width direction are provided on outer edges of the resilient contact () in the plate width direction. Parts of the curved portions () most recessed toward the center in the plate width direction are arranged to face the contact start position () of the contact () in the plate width direction.

A wire harness capable of forming a short circuit by use of a plurality of electric wires and a joint connector while being slenderized and reduced in weight. The wire harness includes a plurality of circuit modules each forming a short circuit. Each of the circuit modules, includes a plurality of electric wires, and a plurality of external-connection connectors, connected to respective first ends of the electric wires, and a joint connector, connected to respective second ends of the electric wires to short-circuit the electric wires. The electric wires constituting the circuit modules are bundled together so that the joint connector of each of the circuit modules is discretely disposed so as to be located in a vicinity of at least one of the external-connection connectors included in the circuit module, around which electric wires a binding tape is wound.

Wire harness including short circuit and production method therefor

A terminal fitting () includes a terminal main body () with a bottom wall () on which cores () of wires () are placed, and two side walls () that stand up from opposite lateral sides of the bottom wall (). A welding portion () where the cores () are welded to the bottom wall () is formed at a front part of the terminal main body (). A crimping portion () is formed at a rear part of the terminal main body () and has crimping pieces () projecting from upper ends of the side walls () for crimped connection to the wires (). Cutouts (AF,AR) are cut into the upper end of the side wall () of the crimping portion () at front and rear sides of the front crimping piece (F) while retaining parts of the side wall (L) below the cutouts (AF,AR).

Terminal fitting with welded portion

A male terminal fitting includes a tab that is connectable with a counterpart female terminal fitting. A tubular body is behind the tab and has an opening for receiving a lance. A barrel is behind the body and is crimped to an end portion of an electric wire. Side walls between the barrel and the tab in the longitudinal direction are hammered in to form a reduced space portion. The reduced space portion has an opening smaller than a thickness and a width of the tab to prevent the tab of another male terminal fitting from intruding through the opening and into the body. Thus, the male terminal fitting prevents the entanglement of male terminal fittings without making the structure of the male terminal fitting complicated.

A joint connector has a housing () with cavities () capable of accommodating mating terminals () and a joint terminal () with a strip-like base () and terminal portions () projecting at specified intervals from the strip-like base (). Insertion openings () are formed in a part of the housing () before the cavities () and communicate with the cavities (). The joint terminal () is mounted into the housing () from the front with the terminal portions () in the lead. The strip-like base () has engaging holes () located between the terminal portions (). Engaging projections (A) project from a resilient wall () continuous with left and right side wall portions (D) of the housing () and engage with the engaging holes ().

Joint connector, joint terminal and a wiring harness with a joint connector

A male housing () has a to-be-locked part () formed thereon. A female housing () has a locking arm () that locks the to-be-locked part (), thus holding both housings () undisplaceably relative to each other in a separation direction after the housings () fit together properly. The male housing () has a prevention part () that is locked to a front surface () of a to-be-prevented portion () of the locking arm (), thus preventing both housings () from being displaced relative to each other in a fit-on direction. The prevention part () is disposed outward from the to-be-locked part () in the widthwise direction orthogonal to the fit-on and separation direction of both housings (). Thus, the male housing () can be molded from resin without using a slide die that closes and opens in a vertical direction or a widthwise direction.

On a holder () to be mounted on a vehicle body (b), there are formed a connector-holding portion () for holding thereon a female connector () and a male connector () fitted in the female connector (); and a cap-holding portion () for holding thereon a female cap () and a male cap () that can be mounted on the male connector () and the female connector () respectively, with the male cap () fit in the female cap ().

Construction for holding cap for use in connector

A slider () slidable in a direction in which a male connector () is fitted in a female connector () and a direction in which the male connector () is separated from the female connector () is mounted on the female connector (). When an operation of moving the slider () rearward is performed, an unlocking projected portion () slides along an unlocking guide surface () of the slider (). As a result, a locking arm () is displaced in an unlocking direction. At this time, a stopping surface () of a spring-accommodating portion () contacts the slider (). As a result, the slider () and a female connector housing () are held as a unit. Thereafter by performing the operation of moving the slider () rearward, the male connector () and the female connector () can be separated from each other.

Fit-in member

A connector has a housing () accommodating terminal fittings connected with wires (W). A fixed cover () is mounted on the housing () and surrounds the wires (W) pulled out of the housing () and a movable cover () is mounted on an end of the fixed cover () opposite the end that is mounted on the housing (). The fixed cover () has a receiving part () with a spherical peripheral surface (). The movable cover () has a rotation-holding part () fit on an outer side of the receiving part (). The rotation-holding part () is rotatable relative to the receiving part () about an axis of the housing () and about a rotational axis orthogonal to the axis of the housing ().

Connector with a wire cover for altering a pull-out direction of wires

A connector cover () holds a corrugated tube () surrounding wires (W) drawn out from the rear side of a housing () and is mounted on the rear side of the housing (). The cover () has first and second cover shells () to be assembled with each other. The cover shells () include tube holders () capable of holding an end portion of the corrugated tube () therebetween. The first cover shell () includes locks (), and the second cover shell () includes lock pieces () engageable with the locks (). The first cover shell () has lock-piece protecting portions () to be arranged adjacent to leading end corners () of the lock pieces () corresponding to the tube holder () and projecting more outward than the lock pieces () in the thickness directions thereof.

Connector cover

A object of the present invention is to enable a double-locking of female terminals without making a whole connector larger in size or complicating a structure thereof while maintaining fine waterproof function. A female connector Cincludes a female housingfor retaining a female terminaland a seal member holder. The seal member holderretains a seal memberhaving through holes. When the seal member holderis completely attached to the female housing, the seal membercomes in close contact with a front surface of the female housing. In this state, a male terminalof a male connector Cfits into the female terminalso that a projecting portionof the connector Ccomes in close contact with an inner surface of the through holeto make terminals waterproof individually. Further, the seal member holderis provided with a double-locking piecein, which pursues the double locking of the female terminalin the female housingat the time of the complete attachment.

Waterproof connector

A wire cover is provided for enabling a held state of a corrugate tube to be confirmed visually. Since tube holders () into which a front end portion of the corrugate tube () is fitted are formed with through holes (A,B) and (C) penetrating from the outer circumferential surface to the inner circumferential surface, a held state of the corrugate tube () fitted in the tube holders () of the wire cover () can be confirmed by the eyes through the through holes (A,B) and (C). Further, since water inside the wire cover () is drained out through the through holes (A,B) and (C), water is unlikely to stay inside the wire cover ().
