An image forming apparatus capable of preventing erroneous reading of an information recording part on a toner container from occurring when the distance between a reading unit and the information recording part changes due to the rotational deflection of the toner container. The reading unit reads information from the information recording part formed on the outer periphery of the toner container. A holding roller comes into contact with the outer periphery of the toner container to position the toner container. The reading unit and the holding roller are arranged on respective lines substantially identical to each other in a direction of a normal to the rotation axis of the toner container.

Image forming apparatus including toner container information sensing and positioning features

A sheet feeding apparatus has: a tray on which sheets to be fed are stacked; a sheet feeding portion which separates and feeds the sheets stacked on the tray one by one; and a sensor which discriminates a type of sheet. In a state in which one sheet of the sheets stacked on the tray is protruded from the tray by the sheet feeding portion, the sensor discriminates the type of the protruded sheet.

Sheet feeding apparatus and image forming apparatus

A sheet feeding apparatus provided with a sheet stacking portion for supporting sheets thereon, a sheet feeding roller for feeding the sheets stacked on the sheet stacking portion, and a manually moving member for selectively moving the sheet stacking portion between a first position in which sheets stacked on the sheet stacking portion are brought into pressure contact with the sheet feeding roller and a second position in which the stacked sheets are spaced apart from the sheet feeding roller, the manually moving member being disposed above the sheet stacking portion and in a direction orthogonal to a sheet feeding direction, and an image forming apparatus having the sheet feeding apparatus.

A bearing includes: an outside portion; an inside portion which is rotatably assembled to the outside portion; a rotating body arranged in a space formed when the outside portion and the inside portion are assembled; a first sealing portion which is integrally molded with the outside portion and seals the space by abutting against the inside portion through elastic deformation caused when assembled; and a second sealing portion which is integrally molded with the inside portion and seals the space by abutting against the outside portion through elastic deformation caused when assembled.

An image forming apparatus in that a sheet having an image formed on a first side thereof by an image forming portion is again transported to the image forming portion so that an image may be formed on an opposite or second side of the sheet, the image forming apparatus including a sheet feeding portion, a re-transport path, a pair of registration rollers provided upstream of the image forming portion, and a loop forming space provided upstream of the pair of registration rollers so as to form the loop, wherein an entrance to the loop forming space for the sheet having passed along the re-transport path is formed downstream of an entrance to the loop forming space for the sheet fed from the sheet feeding portion.

Image forming apparatus

An optical scanner comprises a plurality of light sources, a deflection/scan means for deflecting light beams emitted from the light sources and causing them to scan, and an imaging optical system for focussing light beams coming from the deflection/scan means on an imaging plane. The plurality of light sources are secured by a plurality of light source holders which are by turn secured on a lateral wall of an optical cabinet accommodating the light sources and the deflection/scan means. One or more of the light source holders secure two light sources and are rotatably secured on the lateral wall so that the vertical distance separating the respective light beams emitted from the two light sources can be regulated.
