Electrical connector

A connector assembly comprises a first connector and a second connector. The second connector is mateable with the first connector under any one of a normal state and a reversed state. The first connector comprises a first guide portion and a second guide portion while the second connector comprises a first normal guided-portion, a second normal guided-portion, a first reversed guided-portion and a second reversed guided-portion. When the second connector is mated with the first connector under the normal state, the first normal guided-portion and the second normal guided-portion are guided by the first guide portion and the second guide portion, respectively. When the second connector is mated with the first connector under the reversed state, the first reversed guided-portion and the second reversed guided-portion are guided by the first guide portion and the second guide portion, respectively.

Connector assembly

To satisfy the demand for a reduction in height, provided is a technique for reducing a gap between a motherboard and a daughterboard in the state where the daughterboard is connected to the motherboard. A card edge connector is used to be mounted on a connector mounting surface of a mainboard to connect a memory module to the mainboard. The card edge connector includes a latch portion for pressing the memory module to be displaced in a direction away from the connector mounting surface, toward the connector mounting surface. The latch portion is configured to be elastically displaceable in the direction away from the connector mounting surface.

Card edge connector

A connector assembly comprises a first connector and a second connector configured to be mated with each other. The first connector includes a plurality of first contacts, a first housing and a first shell. The first contacts are arranged and retained in a pitch direction by the first housing The first housing is covered at least in part with the first shell The first shell includes a spring portion and a contact portion. The spring portion extends in the pitch direction. The spring portion is long in the pitch direction. The contact portion is supported by the spring portion so as to be movable in a direction perpendicular to the pitch direction. The second connector includes a second shell. The second shell is brought into contact with at least the contact portion of the first shell so that the first shell and the second shell are connected to each other when the second connector is mated with the first connector.

Connector assembly with grounding shield

A connector is connectable to a cable having a plurality of signal wires and a drain wire. Each of the signal wires includes a signal conductor. The connector comprises a plurality of contacts, a holding member and a shell. The holding member is provided with an accommodating portion configured to accommodate an end part of the drain wire. The accommodating portion extends through the holding portion along a predetermined direction. The contacts configured to be connected to the signal conductors, respectively. The contacts are held by the holding member so that connection works between the contacts and the signal conductors are performable along the predetermined direction. The shell covers, at least in part, the holding member. The shell has a fixing portion exposed in the accommodating portion so that the end part of the drain wire is fixable to the fixing portion within the accommodating portion.

Connector

A connector is mountable on a circuit board and matable with a mating connector inserted from a front end of the connector toward a rear end of the connector. The connector has a plurality of contacts, a holder for holding the plurality of contacts so that the plurality of contacts is arranged in a lateral direction, and a shell for covering at least part of the holder. The shell has a lower plate facing the circuit board when the connector is mounted on the circuit board. The lower plate includes a front edge, an inner back edge located away from the front edge by a predetermined distance, inner side edges connecting the inner back edge to the front edge, and a ground portion projecting frontward from the inner back edge. The inner back edge and the inner side edges define a recessed area recessed rearward from the front edge by a predetermined distance. The ground portion is connectable to the circuit board.

In a connector including a connector body capable of being connected to or disconnected from a connecting object in a first direction, the connector body has, in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, a particular dimension greater than a dimension thereof in a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions. A locking portion is coupled to the connector body for locking the connecting object. The the locking portion is adapted to release locking of the connecting object with movement thereof in the second direction. An operating portion is coupled to the connector body and adapted to engage with the locking portion. The operating portion is adapted to move the locking portion in the second direction according to movement thereof in the third direction.

Connector having a locking mechanism excellent in operability

In a connector apparatus including a first connector and a second connector to be fitted to the first connector in a predetermined direction, the first connector includes a conductive receptacle contact having first and second receptacle-side contact points spaced from each other. The first receptacle-side contact point and the second receptacle-side contact point are positioned in this order towards the predetermined direction. The second connector includes a conductive plug contact to be inserted between the first and the second receptacle-side contact points. The plug contact has an inserting end, first and second plug-side contact points to be contacted with the first and the second receptacle-side contact points, respectively, and a protruding portion formed between the inserting end and the first plug-side contact point.

Connector apparatus easy in removing operation

In a connector to be connected to a cable by an insulation displacement connection, a first housing has a holding portion for receiving the cable. A second housing holds a contact and coupled to the first housing with its rotation with respect to the first housing. The contact is adapted to be contact with a mating connector and has a pair of insulation displacement portions faced to each other with a gap and adapted to be connected to the cable by the insulation displacement connection. The holding portion is inserted into the gap following the rotation of the second housing so that the cable is clamped between each of the insulation displacement portions and the holding portion.

Connector assuring more reliable connection of a cable

In a connector () including an insulator () and first and second signal contacts () held by the insulator, each of the first and the second signal contacts includes a fixed portion () fixed to the insulator, a contacting portion () connected to one end of the fixed portion and extending in a first direction (A), a bent portion () connected to the other end of the fixed portion, a first intermediate portion () extending from the bent portion in the first direction, a second intermediate portion () extending from the first intermediate portion in a second direction (A), and a terminal portion () extending from the second intermediate portion in the first direction. The first intermediate portions are placed at positions which are different from each other in the second direction. The second intermediate portions are different from each other in the first direction. The bent portions are shaped to make the first and the second signal contacts be substantially equal in total length to each other.

Connector adapted to be used for transmission of a balanced signal and substrate for mounting the connector

A connector ( ) comprises a connector housing ( ), a plurality of signaling contacts ( ) arranged in a plurality of columns and a plurality of rows, a plurality of first ground plates ( ) arranged between every two adjacent ones of and at the outside of opposite outermost ones of the columns, and a plurality of second ground plates ( ) arranged between every two adjacent ones of and at the outside of opposite outermost ones of the rows. The first and the second ground plates ( ) are connected to each other to form a grid structure to enclose each individual contact in each grid cell. In case of differential signal transmission, each pair of two contacts is enclosed in each grid cell.

High-speed transmission connector with a ground structure having an improved shielding function

A connector ( ) comprises an insulator ( ) and four rows of contacts ( ). The insulator ( ) has a shape of an almost rectangular parallelepiped and has two cut-off like shaped edges ( B) and a groove ( C). The cut-off like shaped edges ( B) are provided on a lower side in an X-direction and on opposite sides in a Y-direction perpendicular to the X-direction. The groove ( C) is provided on a lower surface ( F) of the insulator ( ). The cut-off like shaped edges ( B) and the groove ( C) straightly extend in a Z-direction perpendicular to the X- and Y-directions. Each of the contacts ( ) has a curved portion ( B) and a flat terminal end portion ( C). The curved portions ( B) and the flat terminal end portions ( C) of the contacts ( ), which belong to two rows nearest the side surfaces ( E), are positioned within the cut-off like shaped edges ( B). The other curved portions ( B) and the other flat terminal end portions ( C) are positioned within the groove ( C). All of the flat terminal end portions ( C) are normally on the same level. To check this, the gauge ( ) is used. During the check, the connector ( ) is slid on the upper surface ( A) of the gauge while the flat terminal end portions ( C) are inserted into the respective gaps ( B C D D ) of the gauge ( ). If one of the flat terminal end portions ( C) collides with side projections ( B C D D ) of the gauge ( ), the connector ( ) is judged as a defective one.

Surface-mountable connector with structure permitting to easily check flatness of contact terminals by use of a gauge and the gauge

A connector having a plate-like insulator ( ) formed with spaces each extending between a first surface ( ) and a second surface ( ) confronting each other in a first direction (A ), and contacts ( ) each unitarily formed and mounted in the corresponding space.
