An article conveyance apparatus including a front imaging device, a left-side imaging device, and a right-side imaging device. The front imaging device determines the presence or absence of an obstacle ahead of the imaging device and calculates a distance from the obstacle based on a comparison between images captured by a plurality of cameras. In a transition region from a linear section to a curved section, the left-side imaging device and the right-side imaging device capture images ahead of the left or the right side and determine the presence or absence of an obstacle ahead of the left or the right side. If a distance from a front obstacle is at most a predetermined threshold value and if it is determined that an obstacle is present ahead of the left or the right side, a controller avoids a collision between the article conveyance apparatus and the obstacle.

In an overhead conveyance vehicle that travels along a rail serving as a conveyance track mounted on a ceiling and conveys a target magazine along the rail, when an elevating unit holding the magazine is hoisted or lowered between a conveyance position and a transfer position, a controller for controlling the operation of the overhead conveyance vehicle determines, based on an image captured by a camera, the presence or absence of an obstacle in an imaging range captured by the camera.

A first control device executes, if it is determined that a second control device has become unable to output an operation instruction, continued operation processing for operating an inactive gas supply portion based on the operation instruction that was last output by the second control device. The first control device further executes, if it is determined during execution of continued operation processing that a stop condition is satisfied, operation stop processing for stopping the inactive gas supply portion by suspending the continued operation processing.

The article transport vehicles are equipped with wireless tags that transmit tag information, and an article transport facility includes: a transport control apparatus that controls the entrance of the vehicles into the control area such that the number of vehicles that are present in one control area is no greater than a control number; a plurality of access points; and a position detection apparatus that detects the respective positions of the vehicles with an accuracy with which a plurality of positions in the control area are distinguishable, based on the same tag information that has been received by the access points. The transport control apparatus permits a number of vehicles, the number being greater than the control number, to enter the control area if a predetermined permission condition is satisfied, based on the positional information that indicates the position of each vehicle.

An inactive gas introducing facility includes an introducing device for introducing inactive gas to the inside of a container stored in a storage section of a storage shelf with discharging gas present inside the container to the inside of a storage space partitioned from the outside and a controller for controlling operation of the introducing device. In a normal stop mode, the controller controls the operation of the introducing device to stop feeding of inactive gas to the container in response to detection of an opened state of an inspection door. And, in a stop nullification mode, the controller controls the operation of the introducing device to continue feeding of inactive gas to the container even in response to detection of the opened state of the inspection door.
