A spark plug includes a sealing material disposed around a center electrode in an insulator. On a cross section including a center line of an axial hole, one of long sides of a rectangle is set into the insulator along the center line. The rectangle is divided into 20 equal regions in the insulator by dividing each of short sides of the rectangle into two equal parts and dividing each of the long sides of the rectangle into 10 equal parts. The rectangle has a porosity of 5% or less. Among pores that appear in each of the regions, 10 pores having largest areas are selected as specific pores. The specific pores have an average area of 26.3 μmor less. The specific pores include no more than 30 pores having areas of 37 μmor more and no less than eight pores having areas of 51 μmor more.

Spark plug

A spark plugof the present invention includes an insulatormade from an alumina-based sintered body and including: a leg portionprovided on a front end side; a middle trunk portionprovided on a rear end side of the leg portionand having a larger diameter than the leg portion; and a flange portionprovided on the rear end side of the middle trunk portionand having a larger diameter than the middle trunk portion. A heat exchanging member including a hollow pillar shaped honeycomb structure having partition walls defining cells, the cells penetrating from a first end face to a second end face to form flow paths for a first fluid, an inner peripheral wall, and an outer peripheral wall; and a covering member being configured to cover the outer peripheral wall of the pillar shaped honeycomb structure. The heat exchanging member is configured to perform heat exchange between the first fluid and a second fluid flowing through an outer side of the covering member. In the heat exchanging member, in a cross section of the pillar shaped honeycomb structure perpendicular to a flow path direction of the first fluid, the cells are radially provided, and each of the inner peripheral wall and the outer peripheral wall has a thickness larger than that of each of the partition walls.

A heat exchanger includes: a pillar shaped honeycomb; an inner cylindrical member; an outer cylindrical member arranged on a radially outer side of the inner cylindrical member such that a part of the outer cylindrical member forms a flow path for a second fluid; an upstream cylindrical member having a cylindrical portion and a flange portion, the upstream cylindrical member being located on a side of a first end face of the honeycomb structure, and an end portion of the flange portion being connected to the inner cylindrical member and/or the outer cylindrical member; and a downstream cylindrical member having a cylindrical portion and a flange portion, the downstream cylindrical member being located on a side of a second end face of the honeycomb structure, and an end portion of the flange portion being connected to the inner cylindrical member and/or the outer cylindrical member.

Heat exchanger and method for producing same

A heat exchanger according to the present invention includes: a pillar shaped honeycomb structure having a plurality of cells, the cells providing first flow paths through which a first fluid is passed; an inner cylinder attached to an outer periphery of the honeycomb structure; and an outer cylinder disposed on an outer periphery of the inner cylinder, the outer cylinder providing a second flow path through which a second fluid is passed, the second flow path being arranged between the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder. The second flow path includes: an intermediate flow path extending in an axial direction of the honeycomb structure so as to include an outer peripheral position of the honeycomb structure; and side flow paths located on both sides of the intermediate flow path in the axial direction. The intermediate flow path has a height lower than that of each of the side flow paths.

Heat exchanger

A heat exchange component including: a pillar-shaped honeycomb structure; and a casing arranged so as to cover an outer circumferential face of the honeycomb structure. The casing includes an inner cylinder arranged so as to be fitted to the outer circumferential face of the honeycomb structure, a middle cylinder arranged so as to cover the inner cylinder, and an outer cylinder arranged so as to cover the middle cylinder such that a circumferential flow path serving as a flow path of a second fluid is formed between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder. The circumferential flow path includes an inner circumferential flow path and an outer circumferential flow path. At least one communication hole that communicates the inner circumferential flow path and the outer circumferential flow path is formed in a portion of the middle cylinder that covers the honeycomb structure.

An exhaust heat recovery device including a heat exchange portion, an exhaust branch portion, and an exhaust distribution portion, wherein the heat exchange portion comprises a pillar-shaped honeycomb body having a first end face and a second end face, and a casing accommodating the honeycomb body, the exhaust branch portion has a branch path that branches a path of exhaust gas flowing into the honeycomb body into a central portion and an outer circumferential portion in a cross-section orthogonal to an axial direction of the honeycomb body, and the exhaust distribution portion has an exhaust distribution mechanism that adjusts a heat recovery amount by changing an airflow resistance of the path of the exhaust gas in the central portion of the honeycomb body and varying the exhaust amount passing through the path of the exhaust gas in the outer circumferential portion of the honeycomb body.

The heating method of honeycomb structure includes a heating step of supplying a power to a honeycomb structure body of a honeycomb structure including the tubular honeycomb structure body having porous partition walls to define and form a plurality of cells and a circumferential wall positioned at an outermost circumference, and heating by electricity conduction, and a catalyst loaded onto the partition walls of the honeycomb structure body, to heat the honeycomb structure body up to a target temperature, and in the heating step, there is provided, at least once, a supply power decrease section where the supply of the power to the honeycomb structure body is stopped or the power to be supplied to the honeycomb structure body is decreased before the lowest temperature in a heating region of the honeycomb structure body reaches the target temperature.

Particulate matter detection device

A particulate matter detection device includes a plate-like element base material including, on one surface thereof, a formed recess portion to collect a particulate matter; a pair of measurement electrodes arranged on the bottom surface side of the recess portion of the element base material; and a high-voltage dust collection electrode embedded in a wall which forms the recess portion of the element base material on the one surface side of the element base material from a position where the pair of measurement electrodes are arranged. An electric field is generated from the high-voltage dust collection electrode to the pair of measurement electrodes, to collect, on the bottom surface side of the recess portion, the particulate matter flowing along the element base material, and a change of electric characteristics between the pair of measurement electrodes is measured to detect the particulate matter collected on the recess portion.

A PM sensor is provided having high responsiveness and capable of long term detection. A PM sensor includes a sensor element that has particulate collection electrodes to which a particulate collection voltage for causing particulate matter contained in exhaust to adhere to a sensor element is applied, and measurement electrodes to which a measurement voltage for measuring an electrical characteristic of the sensor element is applied, in which, after a particulate collection voltage is applied to the particulate collection electrodes application of the particulate collection voltage is stopped in response to a predetermined condition being satisfied, the measurement voltage is applied to the measurement electrodes and the electrical characteristic of the sensor element is measured.

A tubular structure for fixing a particulate matter detection device including a tubular first holding tube having a fixing structure portion at a first end; and a tubular second holding tube having one end fixed to a second end so that the second holding tube is coaxial with the first holding tube. The particulate matter detection device is prolonged in one direction and having a detecting portion for particulate matter, with a takeout portion of a wiring line disposed in the tubular structure so that the detecting portion projects to the outside from the first end and so that the takeout portion is positioned in the second holding tube, and with the particulate matter detection device fixed to a pipe by the fixing structure portion so that the detecting portion is positioned in the pipe.
