A car power source apparatus is provided to include a driving batteryoutputting an output voltage for driving a car, a monitoring and control circuitmonitoring and controlling the driving batteryand connected to an auxiliary batteryvia power supply lines, and a battery casehousing the driving batteryand the monitoring and control circuitand connected to a car chassis groundvia a ground line. Further, the power source apparatus is provided with a connection detection circuit. This connection detection circuitdetermines the condition of the connection of the battery caseand an auxiliary batterypower supply linevia the ground lineand the car chassis groundto determine the condition of the ground lineconnection.

Car power source apparatus for detecting a ground fault in a vehicle power supply

A power source apparatus of a car is provided with contactors () connected to an output-side of a battery (); a pre-charge circuit () made up of a series connected pre-charge resistor () and a pre-charge relay (), which is connected with a contactor () to supply auxiliary charge to a capacitor () connected to a car-side of the battery (); and a control circuit () to control the contactors () and the pre-charge relay (). The pre-charge resistor () is connected in parallel with a contactor (), and the pre-charge relay () is connected in series with that contactor (). The control circuit () switches the pre-charge relay () ON to pre-charge the car-side capacitor (), and then switches the contactor () ON to connect the battery () to the car-side.

Car power source apparatus

The car power source apparatus is provided with a driving batterythat supplies power to the car's electric motor, a voltage detection circuitthat measures the voltage of batteriesin the driving battery, a plurality of voltage detection linesconnected in parallel between the input-side of the voltage detection circuitand driving batteryvoltage detection nodes, and a decision circuitthat determines if a voltage detection lineis open circuited from the voltage measured by the voltage detection circuit. Each voltage detection linehas a voltage drop resistorconnected in series. The voltage detection circuitis provided with input resistorson its input-side. The car power source apparatus makes computations on the voltage measured by the voltage detection circuit, which is from the voltage divider formed by the input resistorand voltage drop resistors, to detect voltage detection lineopen circuit.
