An energy surgical instrument includes first and second grasping pieces for grasping a blood vessel. At least one of the grasping pieces is designed to apply treatment energy to a grasped blood vessel. The instrument also includes a processor designed to set a wall thickness of the blood vessel, and a grasping force adjuster designed to adjust a grasping force applied by the first and second grasping pieces. A first grasping force is applied when the wall thickness set by the processor is larger than a predetermined thickness, and a second grasping force, which is larger than the first grasping force, is applied when the wall thickness set by the processor is equal to or smaller than the predetermined thickness. A treatment method includes applying treatment energy to a blood vessel grasped by the first and second grasping pieces of the instrument to seal the blood vessel.

Energy surgical instrument

A grasping treatment instrument includes a sheath, a first grasping piece provided at a distal end of the sheath, a second grasping piece and a movable member. The second grasping piece is connected to the sheath at a first rotation axis perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the sheath. The movable member is connected to the second grasping piece at the second rotation axis parallel to the first rotation axis, and is configured to move along the longitudinal axis. The first rotation axis is configured to move within the sheath or the second grasping piece in a plane perpendicular to the first rotation axis. The second rotation axis is configured to move within the movable member or the second grasping piece in a plane perpendicular to the second rotation axis.

Grasping treatment instrument

An ultrasonic treatment instrument includes a vibration transmitting member transmitting ultrasonic vibration toward a first gripper and formed as one piece, and a second gripper movable between a spaced position where the second gripper is spaced apart from the first gripper and a closed position where the second gripper is put in close to the first gripper. The ultrasonic treatment instrument includes an interlocking actuator increasing, by moving the first gripper in interlock with a movement of the second gripper to the spaced position, a spacing distance between the first gripper and the second gripper in accordance with a movement of the first gripper.

An operation command transmitting device includes a coupling portion coupling a bar portion to a housing so that the bar portion is movable relative to the housing along a central axis and the bar portion is allowed to be tilted around a supporting axis passing through the bar portion, and an abutment portion with which the bar portion comes into abutment when the bar portion is tilted from an untilted neutral condition. The operation command transmitting device includes an axis defining portion defining the supporting axis so that a position of the supporting axis relative to the housing does not change regardless of a tilting of the bar portion and a movement of the bar portion along the central axis.

A surgical treatment apparatus includes a receptacle which is configured to abut onto a treatment section so that a predetermined clearance is formed between an electrode section and the treatment section when a grip member is closed relative to the treatment section. The surgical treatment apparatus includes a regulating section which is provided in the grip member so that a closing-direction end located on a closing-direction side of the grip member does not protrude from the receptacle toward the closing direction, the regulating section being made of a material harder than the receptacle, and a handle unit configured to operate the grip member so that the regulating section is closed up to a position where the regulating section contacts the treatment section except when the receptacle contacts the treatment section.

A head portion includes an engaging portion capable of engaging with an engagement portion, a slit formed by cutting a part of a peripheral wall surface of the engaging portion, a protuberance which protrudes inward from the peripheral wall surface of the engaging portion, the protuberance including a slope the height of projection of which gradually increases along the circumference of the peripheral wall and which is oriented in a direction of rotation in a rotating operation, and a stop surface extending in radial directions of the engaging portion. The head portion includes an elastically deformable portion configured to cause at least one of two opposite side portions of the slit to be elastically deformed so that the slit is widened until a preset value is reached by the torque applied from the engaging portion to the engagement portion with the protuberance in mesh with an interlocking portion.
