A thread standing device includes: a spool pin around which a thread reel is inserted; a thread hooking base on which a thread wound around the thread reels is hooked; and a thread holding slider which is slidable with respect to the thread hooking base, the thread holding slider being movable between a first position for covering a thread hooking portion of the thread hooking base and a second position for exposing the thread hooking portion, the thread being hooked on the thread hooking portion, wherein the thread hooked on the thread hooking portion is held when the thread holding slider is slid to the first position.

An embroidery frame driving device includes: a base plate firmly fixed to an X-Y driving unit of the embroidery frame driving device; a fixation arm provided on the base plate; an attachment/detachment cam; a removing link; a coupling link; and an embroidery frame. The embroidery frame is slid against the base plate to rotate the attachment/detachment cam and the fixation arm through pressing of a pressing part of a fixation part to press and fix one end of the fixation arm to a fixation groove of the fixation part in attachment of the embroidery frame. The removing link is operated to rotate the coupling link and the attachment/detachment cam to rotate the fixation arm and release pressing and fixation of the fixation groove of the fixation part by the one end of the fixation arm in detachment of the embroidery frame.

An embroidery unit attaching and detaching device includes: a lock mechanism configured to operate in association with a motion of an embroidery unit in an attaching direction to restrict the motion of the embroidery unit in a detaching direction with respect to a sewing machine; and support mechanisms for restricting a relative motion of the sewing machine and the embroidery unit in a vertical direction where recessed portions and protruded portions are engaged with each other.

A presser foot vertical drive device includes an upper shaft configured to vertically drive a needle, a presser foot drive cam fixed to the upper shaft, a presser foot urged downward over a needle plate, a cam follower configured to be vertically driven in contact with the presser foot drive cam, and a link configured to transmit the vertical drive of the cam follower to the presser foot. The presser foot drive cam includes a plurality of drive cams having cam surfaces for different presser foot vertical drive patterns. The cam follower includes a switching unit for selection of one drive cam from the presser foot drive cam.

A sewing machine is provided, which has lower feed teeth which feed a sewing object by a lower feed drive mechanism having a lower drive shaftas a drive source and upper feed teeth which are driven by an upper feed shaft that is coupled to and driven by the lower feed drive mechanism. The sewing machine is provided with an upper feed lower shaftwhich is supported rotatably on a machine main body and is coupled to the lower feed drive mechanism, an upper feed coupling section which transmits movement of the upper feed lower shaft to the upper feed shaft, and a transmission control section which controls halting and restarting of transmission of movement of the upper feed lower shaft. The upper feed coupling section is held at a movement transmission halt position by operation of the transmission control section.
