An image input section pre-inputs an image. A temporary storage section temporarily stores the image input by the image input section. An attribute control section controls at least attribute information of the input information temporarily stored in the temporary storage section. A selection section permits a user at the origin of image request to select a desired one of already stored images stored in the temporary storage section in accordance with the attribute information controlled by the attribute control section. An image transfer section reads out the desired image selected by the selection section from the temporary storage section at the time of the request by origin of the image request and transfers the desired image to the origin of the image request via a network.

When a recording medium is set in a slot of a CD-ROM drive, a DVD drive or a smart media drive, a system control section of a printing apparatus controls a display control section to cause a display panel to display selection items. When one of the selection items displayed on the display panel is selected by pushing, and a 'PRINT' button is also pushed, the system control section acquires information on the selected item associated with the recording medium from a server apparatus and controls a print control section to execute a printing control.

Processes from the scanning of a document in a preset scan mode to a process executed for the scanned image are set as scan jobs. When an icon associated with the scan job is selected, the scan job is executed. Thereby, the processes from the scanning of the document to the process executed for the scanned image can be automatically executed by selecting the associated icons, and the user operations are simplified and made easier.

Image capturing system

The present invention is adapted to create multi-page data consisting of image data of a plurality of pages that constitute one document, and to manage the multi-page data in the same stage as single-page data that consists of image data of each page belonging to the document. As a result, an image processing system is realized which can make use of both a single-page file suitable for management or updating of image data performed in units of one page, and a multi-page file suitable for processing of image data performed in units of one document.

In this invention, a digital copying machine to be connected to a network feeds originals in each document unit for each sheet by use of an ADF to read the images of the originals and prints the read images in each document unit for each page in a printing form selected by the user. Therefore, a plurality of original images read in each document unit can be effectively confirmed in accordance with the purpose of the user on the spot where the reading operation is effected. Further, the actual concentration can be adjusted while observing reduced images on the confirmation sheet and inputting of an actual image and inputting for correction can be easily attained. In a case where a specified page among a plurality of originals is scanned again, all of the originals are set on the original table of the ADF without extracting the specified page from the originals and the specified page can be scanned again. Therefore, the pages of the originals can be kept in order. Further, since only the necessary page is scanned, time can be saved. Therefore, specification of rescanning can be easily made and a sheaf of originals (document) can be kept as it is.

An instruction sheet designer designs a handwriting sheet which allows execution of an arbitrary program by handwriting job instructions. The format of the handwriting sheet is stored as print data in a print data memory. If a job instruction is to be input, the handwriting sheet is printed on the basis of the print data stored in the print data memory or information based on the print data is displayed on the screen at a terminal. The job contents can be instructed in a look and feel manner in accordance with a sheet input, a key input, or a mouse input.
