An autofocusing method includes causing light having n wavelengths different from one another to sequentially pass through a spectral filter and acquiring n image frames corresponding to the n wavelengths, n being an integer greater than or equal to two, selecting a wavelength corresponding to the image frame having the largest statistical value from the n image frames, the statistical value being one of the average, median, and mode of class values of pixels contained in a first region out of entire measurement pixels in each of the image frames, and determining a focusing point in a second region wider than the first region out of the entire measurement pixels while causing the light having the selected wavelength to pass through the spectral filter.

A colorimetric sensor includes an etalon including a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a fixed mirror formed on a surface of the first substrate facing the second substrate, and a movable mirror formed on the second substrate so as to face the fixed mirror with a prescribed gap therebetween, a light receiving element that receives a test subject light having passed through the etalon, and a holding member holding the etalon. The etalon includes a light interference area facing the first and second substrates in a plan view as seen in a thickness direction of the substrate, and a protruding area protruding from the light interference area. The holding member holds the etalon at one end side of the protruding area opposite to the light interference area.

A first correction data memory stores a first correction data Dhy in a row direction, and a second correction data memory stores second correction data Dhx in a column direction. The pixel correction data DH is stored into a pixel correction data memory. Input gray scale data Din is corrected by the pixel correction data DH to output as output gray scale data Dout.

A signal processing unit that generates data signals for controlling gray-scale levels of electro-optical elements includes a first D/A conversion unit that generates gray-scale signals from gray-scale data for designating the gray-scale levels of the electro-optical elements; a storage unit that stores correction data indicating correction values with respect to the gray-scale signals; a second D/A conversion unit that has resolution different from that of the first D/A conversion unit, and that generates correction signals from the correction data stored in the storage unit; and a synthesizing unit that synthesizes the gray-scale signals generated by the first D/A conversion unit with the correction signals generated by the second D/A conversion unit to generate the data signals.
