A method and apparatus are disclosed herein for managing thermal dissipation in a receptacle assembly. In one embodiment, the receptacle assembly comprises a cage with a front face, a rear face, the front face having a plurality of ports; and a heat transfer unit having a thermal interface disposed with the cage, one or more heat transfer bars coupled, via openings in the cage, to sides of the thermal interface and are external to the cage, and a heat sink coupled to the one or more heat transfer bars, where the heat transfer unit is movable in a vertical direction in response to insertion of a module into one of the plurality of ports.

Recepticle assembly with thermal management

A receptacle connector of the present invention is used as an electrical connector configured to connect two circuit boards. The receptacle connector includes: a housing in which a receiving space is formed, a connection target being inserted in the receiving space; a plurality of contacts being arranged parallel to one another, having a plurality of signal line contacts and a plurality of ground contacts, and being placed with every two adjacent signal line contacts for transmitting signals interposed between two ground contacts; a supporting member made of an electrically-insulating synthetic resin material, and configured to integrally support and fix thereto the plurality of contacts; and a common contact made of a conductive resin material and configured to electrically connect the plurality of ground contacts together among the plurality of contacts. The plurality of contacts integrated together by the supporting member are received in the receiving space.

A circuit board assembly comprises a circuit board having a connector or contact pad, and a housing. The housing includes a casing having an open end, an end cover sealing the open end of the casing and having a conductor, a coolant inlet for introducing a coolant into the housing, a coolant outlet for discharging the coolant from the housing, an inside connector connected to an inside surface of the conductor of the end cover, and an outside connector connected to an outside surface of conductor. The conductor of the end cover extends from an inside surface of the end cover to an outside surface of the end cover.

Embodiments of a connector (which may also be also referred to as a connector unit) are described. In accordance with one embodiment, the connector may comprise a case, first and second connectors, at least one stiffener bar, and at least one flexible circuit. The first connector may be located in a first opening of the case and the second connector may be located in a second opening of the case. The stiffener bar may be disposed in the case. The first connector may receive a first end of the flexible circuit while a second end of the flexible circuit may be interposed between the stiffener bar and the second connector.

A heat sink includes a body and a heat transmitting member coupled thereto. The body and member are arranged such they each contact a different section of an electronic component, e.g., a PCMCIA card. The heat sink can be integrated into an electronic component connector that enables the heat sink to move parallel with the component during insertion and extraction. The connector can also enable vertical movement of the heat sink during component insertion and extraction.

A lock and lock releasing mechanism for an IC card connecting mechanism comprising a resilient lock arm for accumulating a preliminary resilient force by being resiliently contacted with one side edge of an IC card to be received in a card receiving space through a card inlet port of the card connecting mechanism. The resilient lock arm is arranged to engage in a recess formed on the side edge of the IC card in order to establish the locked state of the IC card. The lock and lock releasing mechanism also comprises a control member that is arranged to selectively engage the resilient lock arm so that the resilient lock arm moves against its resiliency to disengage from the recess formed on the side edge of the IC card, thereby establishing a lock released state of the IC card.

An apparatus detects a trailing end of a memory card in a memory card reader. The apparatus has a first driven switch element resiliently displaced by the memory card and a second driven switch element resiliently displaced by the first driven switch element. The first driven switch element includes a first resilient contact piece extending in a direction of insertion of the memory card. The second driven switch element includes a second resilient contact piece likewise extending in the direction of insertion of the memory card. The first and second resilient contact pieces are arranged such that they extend along a surface of the memory and face each other in a direction of the thickness of the memory card. After electrode pads arranged on the surface of the memory card inserted into a reader are brought into contact with corresponding contacts arranged in the reader, the first resilient contact piece is pressed by a front end edge portion of the memory card and resiliently displaced in the direction of the thickness of the memory card so as to contact the second resilient contact pieces. The second resilient piece is pressed by the first resilient piece and resiliently displaced in the direction of the thickness of the memory card so as to provide a wiping action on a pressure contacting portion.

In an IC card connector in which an IC card is inserted into a card receiving chamber through a card inlet port of a card case so that electrode pads of the IC card are brought into contactact with contacts of the card case, an ejecting mechanism in the IC card connector comprises a card pusher inserted into the card receiving chamber from outside the card case through a guide port provided on the card case and engageable with a front end face of the IC card. The card pusher is moved towards the card inlet port within the guide port to push the front end face of the IC card, so that a rear end portion of the IC card is ejected from the card inlet port.

In an IC card connector in which an IC card is inserted into a card receiving chamber through a card inlet port of a card case so that electrode pads of the IC card are brought into contact with contacts of the card case, an ejecting mechanism in the IC card connector comprises a card pusher inserted into the card receiving chamber from outside the card case through a guide port provided on the card case and engageable with a front end face of the IC card. The card pusher is moved towards the card inlet port within the guide port to push the front end face of the IC card, so that a rear end portion of the IC card is ejected from the card inlet port.

An IC protective in a memory card operating electronic apparatus comprising a plurality contacts arranged in a front and a rear row such that they come in contact with a corresponding plurality of electrode pads arranged in a front and a rear row on a memory card when the memory card is inserted into an electronic apparatus, in order to prevent an electrical charge of a charged part held by an electronic circuit within the electronic apparatus from flowing to an IC within the memory card or IC of an electronic circuit within the electronic apparatus when the contacts in the front and the rear row slide on surfaces of the electrode pads in the front and the rear row at the same time during a process for inserting and withdrawing the memory card into and from the electronic apparatus, wherein a discharge circuit for the charge part is formed in operative connection with the inserting and withdrawing movement of the memory card.

A surface mount type IC socket comprises first and second cover retainers respectively disposed over a full length of opposing side surfaces of a socket body, and a seat piece disposed on each end of the first and second retainers and adapted to be arranged in an area in the vicinity of a lower part of each corner portion of the socket body. The seat piece is soldered to a conductive pattern on a surface of a wiring board at an area in the vicinity of the corner part of each corner portion. An engagement piece is disposed on each end of the first and second cover retainers and protrudes sidewardly from a side surface of each corner portion of the socket body. An engagement claw disposed on each corner portion of an IC presser cover formed of a conductive plate is engaged with a respective engagement element so that the cover is removably mounted on the socket body.
