A light emitting device having a structure in which oxygen and moisture are prevented from reaching light emitting elements, and a method of manufacturing the same, are provided. Further, the light emitting elements are sealed by using a small number of process steps, without enclosing a drying agent. The present invention has a top surface emission structure. A substrate on which the light emitting elements are formed is bonded to a transparent sealing substrate. The structure is one in which a transparent second sealing material covers the entire surface of a pixel region when bonding the two substrates, and a first sealing material (having a higher viscosity than the second sealing material), which contains a gap material (filler, fine particles, or the like) for protecting a gap between the two substrates, surrounds the pixel region. The two substrates are sealed by the first sealing material and the second sealing material. Further, reaction between electrodes of the light emitting elements (cathodes or anodes) and the sealing materials can be prevented by covering the electrodes with a transparent protective layer for example, CaF, MgF, or BaF.

Light emitting device and method of manufacturing the same

A display device having high reliability is provided. A frame of a display device is narrowed. A display device such as a liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate overlapping with the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate, a first sealant surrounding the liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a second sealant surrounding the first sealant, closing a gap between the first substrate and the second substrate, and extending to at least a side surface of the second substrate.

Display device and electronic device

A display device in which reliability of a display element is improved is provided. Alternatively, a display device in which reliability of a transistor is improved is provided. Alternatively, a display device in which an increase in an area of a periphery region is suppressed is provided. A display device includes a display region including a display element between a first flexible substrate and a second flexible substrate in which the display region is surrounded by a first continuous sealant, the first sealant is surrounded by a second continuous sealant, and the second sealant is provided between the first substrate and the second substrate and on at least one of a side surface of the first substrate and a side surface of the second substrate.

Arrangement of sealing materials for display device

An object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting device in which variations in an emission spectrum depending on a viewing angle with respect to a side from which luminescence is extracted are decreased. A light emitting device according to the invention has a transistor, an insulating layer covering the transistor and a light emitting element provided in an opening of the insulating layer. The transistor and the light emitting element are electronically connected through a connecting portion. Additionally, the connecting portion is connected to the transistor through a contact hole penetrating the insulating layer. Note that the insulating layer may be a single layer or a multilayer in which a plurality of layers including different substances is laminated.

Light emitting device

An object is to improve productivity related to a laser light irradiation step in a bonding technique of substrates using glass frit. A highly airtight sealing structure or a highly airtight light-emitting device, which can be manufactured with high productivity, is provided. When a glass layer by melting glass frit or a sintered body by sintering glass frit is irradiated with laser light, in order to increase the efficiency, a light-absorbing material is attached to a surface of the glass layer. The laser light irradiation is performed on the light-absorbing material and the glass layer. The substrates are fixed with the glass layer therebetween.

Method for bonding substrates, method for manufacturing sealing structure, and method for manufacturing light-emitting device

A display device with a higher contrast ratio is provided. The display device is provided with stacked polarizing plates arranged displaced from a parallel nicol state. Moreover, in the display device, at least one of a pair of stacked polarizing plates is displaced from a parallel state. The pair of stacked polarizing plates is arranged in a cross nicol state. A retardation plate may be provided between the polarizing plate and the substrate. As a result, the contrast ratio can be increased.

Display device

There is disclosed a lightweight and small liquid crystal display which achieves low power consumption and in which the optical anisotropy of the liquid crystal material is compensated for in order to enhance the viewing angle characteristics and the response speed of the liquid crystal material. Display electrodes and a common electrode are formed on one of the substrates. The orientation of the liquid crystal material is of the HAN (hybrid alignment nematic) type. This compensates for the optical anisotropy of the liquid crystal material and improves the response speed.

Liquid crystal display and method of driving

In a horizontal electric field drive type liquid crystal electro-optic device, a gate electrode, a source electrode, a drain electrode, a semiconductor film and a common electrode are formed on a glass substrate and a liquid crystal material is driven by controlling the strength of an electric field substantially parallel to the glass substrate. The electrodes and the semiconductor film are made curved, for example semi-circular or semi-elliptical, in sectional profile. These curved sectional profiles can be formed by suitably selecting and combining various patterning and etching methods.

Liquid crystal electro-optic device

To provide a display device having a high contrast ratio by a simple and easy method and to manufacture a high-performance display device at low cost, in a display device having a display element between a pair of light-transmitting substrates, layers each including a polarizer having different wavelength distribution of extinction coefficient from each other with respect to the absorption axes are stacked and provided on an outer side of the light-transmitting substrates. Further, a retardation plate may be provided between the stacked polarizers.
