A novel copolymer having excellent pigment dispersion performance, and more particularly, a novel copolymer usable as a pigment dispersing agent that can attain high luminance and high contrast of a green picture element in a color filter. The novel copolymer contains: a block chain (A) including a repeating unit having a tertiary amino group; and a block chain (B) including a repeating unit represented by the following formula (I) (wherein Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a C1-C3 alkyl group, Rand Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom or a C1-C6 alkyl group, Q represents an oxygen-containing saturated hetero ring group optionally having an alkyl group as a substituent or a C2-C20 alkenyl group, and n represents an integer of 0 to 6), and has an amine value of 80 mgKOH/g or more and 250 mgKOH/g or less.

Copolymer

An object of the present invention is to provide a novel copolymer useful as a dispersing agent for a pigment or the like. The novel copolymer contains: a block chain (A) comprising at least one repeating unit selected from the group consisting of a repeating unit having a tertiary amino group and a repeating unit having a quaternary ammonium salt group; and a block chain (B) comprising a repeating unit having an acidic group and a repeating unit represented by the following formula (I) (wherein Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a C1-C3 alkyl group; and Rrepresents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group or an alicyclic hydrocarbon group), wherein the repeating unit represented by formula (I) has a copolymerization ratio of 90 mass % or more in the block chain (B).

The present invention provides a novel copolymer useful as a dispersing agent for a pigment or the like. The novel copolymer contains a block chain (A) consisting of a polymer comprising at least one repeating unit selected from the group consisting of a repeating unit having a tertiary amino group and a repeating unit having a quaternary ammonium base; and a block chain (B) consisting of a copolymer comprising a repeating unit having a polyoxyalkylene chain and a repeating unit having an acidic group. 

The present invention provides a styrene-based star polymer with narrow dispersion and suitable as a resist material, etc. A star polymer of the present invention is represented by the formula A[C(Y)X](wherein A represents a polyvalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group with 4-15 carbons, C represents a carbon atom, X represents a styrene-based polymer chain, Y represents a hydroxy group or an oxo group, m represents an integer of 1 or 2, and n represents any integer from 2 to 5, with the proviso that if Y is a hydroxy group, m is 2, and if Y is an oxo group, m is 1). The star polymer can be produced by reacting a styrene-based polymer having an anionic end, and an aliphatic carboxylic acid ester represented by A(COOR)(wherein R represents an alkyl group having 1-8 carbons, and A and n are as defined for the above formula).

An object of the present invention is to provide a novel copolymer useful as a pigment dispersing agent in the field of color liquid crystal displays and the like. Multibranched polymer and method for producing the same

The present invention provides a novel narrow distribution dendrimer-like star polymer having a controlled molecular structure, and a method capable of easily producing the star polymer. Disclosed is a polymer comprising a core portion and an arm portion, wherein the arm portion includes a first generation composed of a polymer chain and a second generation composed of a polymer chain formed at the outer shell of the first generation, the number of arms of the second generation is larger than the number of arms of the first generation, the first generation composed of the polymer chain is a polymer chain derived from a monomer having a polymerizable double bond, and the ratio of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) to the number average molecular weight (Mn), (Mw/Mn), of the star polymer is within a range from 1.001 to 2.50. A compound containing a functional group capable of reacting with an anion, which serves as a core portion, is reacted with a polymer chain containing two or more functional groups and an anion end which serves as an arm portion.

Star polymer and method of producing the same

It is to provide a narrowly dispersible star polymer having a controlled molecular structure and a method for easily producing such star polymer. The aim of the present invention is to provide a multi-branched polymer, in which branch terminals can be easily modified and which have a high degree of branching and narrow dispersion. By polymerizing a compound having 2 or more polymerization-initiation sites and polymerizable unsaturated bonds with a living radical polymerization method using a metal catalyst, it is possible to produce a multi-branched polymer with narrow dispersion and a high degree of branching and having repeating units represented by the formula (I): wherein Rto Reach independently represents hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group, Rmay be bonded to Rto form a ring; X represents a connecting group having a valence of 3 or higher; Y may be the same or different and each represents a functional group which may have a halogen atom at a terminal thereof; and a is an integer of 2 or larger.
