A process for removing ash from coal comprising the steps of pulverizing the coal to fine particles, admixing water with the finely divided coal to prepare an ash-containing slurry of finely divided coal, mixing with the slurry an oil and seeds in the form of oleophilic solid grains and serving as granulating nuclei to granulate the finely divided coal, separating the resulting granules from the mixture and washing the granules with water to remove the ash, and disintegrating the washed granules to obtain a deashed coal and recover the seeds for reuse.

Process for removing ash from coal

High-pressure gas generating apparatus includes a gas generator body provided with a combustion chamber. The gas generator body has a primary propellant injector including orifices for injecting a primary fuel and orifices for injecting a primary oxidizing agent, both the orifices being open to the combustion chamber, an igniter for igniting the primary fuel forced out from the injector, and valve means having a secondary fuel injecting orifice for injecting a metal fuel into a high-temperature gas atmosphere to be reacted therewith and containing a secondary oxidizing agent produced by the reaction of the primary fuel injected from the primary propellant injector with the primary oxidizing agent similarly injected.

Apparatus for generating high-pressure gas

High-pressure gas generating apparatus includes a combustion chamber and a water jacket surrounding the combustion chamber. A metal fuel injecting nozzle is disposed in the center of one end of the combustion chamber. The water in the jacket is injected into the combustion chamber in the form of a swirling stream around the fuel injected from the nozzle.

High-pressure gas generating apparatus includes a combustion engine and a metal fuel storage chamber surrounding the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber has at its one end a metal fuel injecting orifice and water injecting orifices. The fuel injecting orifice communicates with the fuel storage chamber, and the water injecting orifices communicate with a water heating tube extending helically in the interior of the combustion chamber.

Method in which a metal fuel in the form of molten droplets is brought into contact with water for reaction. The fuel comprises aluminum as a primary fuel component and at least one of lithium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and sodium-potassium alloy as an auxiliary fuel component and is used in the form of an alloy or a mixture of these fuel components. When used in the form of an alloy, the fuel is preheated to a molten state and injected into a reactor under high pressure, whereby the fuel is made into droplets and contacted with water vapor introduced into the reactor from another system. For use as a mixture, the fuel is made into a slurry the liquid phase of which consists singly of the auxiliary fuel component, and the slurry is injected into an atmosphere containing water vapor.
