A method of manufacturing a mounting substrate, the method includes: transferring part or all of a plurality of devices on a device substrate onto a wiring substrate, and temporarily fixing the transferred devices to the wiring substrate with use of a fixing layer having viscosity, the device substrate including a support substrate and the plurality of devices fixed on the support substrate; and performing a reflow process on the wiring substrate to electrically connect the transferred devices with the wiring substrate, and thereby forming the mounting substrate.

A method of transferring a device includes the steps of: arranging a first substrate, on which a device is provided with a release layer having a planar shape equal to or smaller than the device interposed therebetween, and a second substrate, on which an adhesive layer is provided, so as to be spaced from and opposite each other in a state where the device and the adhesive layer face each other; and irradiating a laser beam having an irradiation area larger than the base area of the release layer onto the entire surface of the release layer from the first substrate side so as to ablate the release layer, to separate the device from the first substrate, and to transfer the device on the second substrate.

An optical-recording-medium playback apparatus includes a first optical member which focuses light emitted from a light-emitting unit on an optical recording medium, a second optical member which focuses light reflected by the optical recording medium, a light-receiving unit which receives the light focused by the second optical member, and a pinhole which is disposed between the second optical member and the light-receiving unit. The focal point of the light focused by the first optical member and that of the light focused by the second optical member correspond to each other. Accordingly, when the pinhole only transmits light which passes through positions around the focal point of the second optical member, stray light from positions around the focal point of the first optical member (in particular, light reflected by recording layers other than the one from which information is read out) can be removed.

An objective lens is configured of a first crown-glass lens and a second flint-glass lens, whereby it can exhibit substantially identical optical properties at a plurality of recording/reproducing light source wavelengths, particularly, in both 650 nm and 405 nm wavelength bands. Also, by maximizing the difference in glass transition point between the first and second lenses, one of the first and second lenses having a higher glass transition point is molded first, to allow that first molded lens to serve as a mold tool for molding the other lens. This dispenses with the steps of aligning and adhesive bonding the two lenses, whereby this objective lens can be used at a plurality of wavelengths as a single objective lens, and thus an information recording/reproducing apparatus can be of a simple configuration.

An optical device having an irradiated portion formed of an optical recording medium in which a pit is formed on a reflection surface, a semiconductor unit in which a semiconductor laser, a semiconductor structure and a photo-detection element are formed on the same semiconductor substrate, and a converging device for converging a light emitted from the semiconductor laser and irradiating the same of the irradiated portion and further converging a returned light reflected from the irradiated portion. The semiconductor structure is formed near the confocal of the converging device and includes at least three reflection surfaces. The photo-detection element includes a first detection element for receiving a returned light reflected on the second reflection surface and a second detection element for receiving the returned light reflected on the third reflection surface. A first detection signal which results from detecting a diffracted light from one pit edge of the pit by the first detection element and a second detection signal which results from detecting the diffracted light from one pit edge of the pit by the second detection element are obtained. The first and second detection signals are computed to generate a tracking error signal.

Optical device

There is provided an optical device which comprises a light-emitting portion for emitting a laser light, a light-receiving portion for receiving the light emitted from the light-emitting portion, and a converging portion for converging the light emitted from the light-emitting portion to thereby irradiate a portion to be irradiated and for converging a light reflected on and returned from the irradiated portion, wherein the light-receiving portion is located in the vicinity of a confocal point of the converging portion with respect to the light returned from the irradiated portion, the light emitted from the light-emitting portion is received by the light-receiving portion along a path which is coaxial before and after being reflected by the irradiated portion, a push-pull signal is detected by the light-receiving portion, and the push-pull signal is subjected to partial differentiation with the amount of defocus to obtain a coefficient which is used to detect a tracking error signal.

By using a hysteresis amplifier for driving an electromagnet, a highly accurate electromagnetic bearing may be produced without the need for independent position detectors to maintain the levitated position of a rotor constant. In one embodiment, the electromagnetic bearing includes multiple electromagnets for levitating a rotor in a predetermined position. Multiple hysteresis amplifiers each supply a switching signal for driving each of the electromagnets. The switching frequency of the switching signals changes in accordance with the inductance of the electromagnets, which varies in accordance with the relative position of the electromagnets. A phase comparator detects the phase difference between the switching waveforms of each hysteresis amplifier. A loop filter supplies a target current value converted from an output of the phase comparator to the hysteresis amplifiers. By controlling the input signals to the respective hysteresis amplifiers to maintain the frequency of the switching signal output of the respective hysteresis amplifiers constant, the position of the rotor is also maintained constant. Accordingly, a magnetic bearing may precisely control the levitated position of a rotor without the use of position detectors.

Controlled type magnetic bearing device

An electromagnetic bearing apparatus having five degrees of freedom includes two radial magnetic bearings. Each of the radial bearings consists of two pairs of electromagnets. The electromagnets of one pair are arranged opposite one another around a rotating shaft, and the other pair is arranged in the same perpendicular plane as the preceding pair. The pairs of electromagnets in the two radial bearings are respectively controlled to stabilize the rotating shaft to obtain automatic regulation, in which deviation of the shaft in a radial sense is compensated according to the component of shaft radial deviation and deviating velocity and the gyro-effect which will be caused by the perpendicular compensating torque to compensate the future rotation in the perpendicular component.
