The present invention provides a sphygmomanometer that can create, before measuring a blood pressure, a state for making a blood pressure measurement accurate. A sphygmomanometer includes a fluid circuit and a control unit. The control unit has a first preparation processing unit, a second preparation processing unit, and a measurement processing unit which operate in a worn state of the sphygmomanometer. The first preparation processing unit operates a pressing cuff to discharge remaining fluid in a sensing cuff to the atmosphere through the fluid circuit. Then, the second preparation processing unit causes the sensing cuff to store a predetermined amount of pressure transmitting fluid received from a pump through the fluid circuit. Subsequently, the measurement processing unit operates the pressing cuff and calculates the blood pressure by the oscillometric method based on pressure of the pressure transmitting fluid stored in the sensing cuff.

A blood pressure monitor that includes an acceleration sensor attached to an arm, which is a measurement site, of a measurement subject, and an orientation detection unit that detects an orientation of the measurement subject during blood pressure measurement based on an output of the acceleration sensor. The orientation detection unit specifies the orientation of the measurement subject in accordance with a torso angle with respect to a bed surface in a view along a body height direction of the measurement subject lying on the bed surface, and the orientation of the arm position. The blood pressure monitor also includes a blood pressure measurement unit that measures a blood pressure value at the measurement site of the measurement subject, and a blood pressure correction unit that corrects the blood pressure value of the measurement subject according to the specified orientation of the measurement subject.

A sphygmomanometer according to the present disclosure includes a main body that is mounted with a pump and is to be disposed on a dorsal surface of a wrist and a cuff that is to be attached around the wrist. The cuff extends along a circumferential direction of the wrist from an ulnar side end portion of the main body to a palmar surface and is set to a length covering an ulnar artery or a length covering a radial artery beyond the ulnar artery of a wrist having a preset maximum wrist circumference. A fluid is supplied from the pump to the cuff to press the wrist. A blood pressure is calculated based on a pressure of the fluid contained in the cuff.

A sphygmomanometer includes a main body mounted with a pump, a belt, and a cuff structure. The cuff structure having a band shape is disposed facing an inner circumferential surface of the belt in a freely separable manner from the inner circumferential surface of the belt. One end of the cuff structure is attached to the main body. The cuff structure includes a bag-shaped pressure cuff that extends along a circumferential direction of a measurement target site, a bag-shaped sensing cuff that extends in the circumferential direction across an artery passing portion of the measurement target site, and a back plate that is inserted between the pressure cuff and the sensing cuff. A blood pressure is calculated based on a pressure of a pressure transmission fluid contained in the sensing cuff.

An arterial pressure sensor for detecting pressure applied to an artery passing portion of the part to be measured by the pressing cuff is disposed at a portion of an inner peripheral surface of the pressing cuff which should face an artery of the part to be measured, separately from the pressing cuff.
